1. Fournier , as always, tells it like it is for all tough-minded people
willing to read both the lines and between the lines. Clark's done. Kerry's got it locked. The DNC wants it over but now. Dean's turning into a cartoon of himself. Edwards is shrewdly running for VP.

2. Edwards is also running for 2008.
The more exposure he gets now, the better it will be for him in '08. After NH I was fairly certain Clark was out of it, but I was hoping he'd do well enough to make himself a strong challenger in 08 if he chose to run that route. I don't know if he did. Edwards now has that chance. A strong run now, and whether or not he gets the VP nod, he establishes himself as an early frontrunner in 08 -- assuming Kerry loses, which the odds favor. Edwards has run a great campaign, but he's also doing a good job of lining up the angles in his favor. If only he can learn to give more than one speech.

4. What is Edwards gonna do if he doesn't get VP?
He doesn't have a seat in the Senate and will essentially be hidden from public view. I doubt he can spontaneously reemerge in 08 as a formidable candidate if he doesn't get the VP slot.

5. It's actually probably easier to run from outside the government.
He is thin on policy and experience, but he can write position papers and op-ed pieces and the like to build his resume. And he can devote his time to fence building with the heavyweights.

Carter was an ex-governor. Mondale -- ex VP. Bradley - ex Senator. Gore ex - VP.

Not being in office means running can be a full time job.

3. I'm so sorry.
It's a real shame that so many voters will not have a voice in the process. This stinks!

6. And with it goes True Change in America...I weep tonight for the future
Nothing will change and even if Kerry manages to eek out a win, he's only setting up a massive Repug victory in '08 and '12! Thanks Mr. Kerry!
