What did Ari really say to Gregory, Dickerson at the side of a road in Uganda?

Did Ari tell the truth on the witness stand? Slate's Dickerson’s account is different (note - Dickerson was with Time in 2003, now with Slate).

In February, 2006, Dickerson reported in Slate that Ari told him only to 'go ask the CIA who sent Wilson'.

Yesterday, Ari said he told Gregory, Dickerson et al that Wilson’s wife worked for the CIA.

The importance is this: if Ari is telling the truth and Dickerson is wrong, it supports Ari's notion that he had no idea the Plame was covert – he was willing to give out her name.

If Dickerson is telling the truth and Ari is not, it supports the notion that Ari was more careful about what he said – as he knew Plame was covert and he didn’t want to give out her name.

Booman suggesting we need Gregory’s testimony to clear this up –whether Ari or Dickerson is telling the truth (Dickerson didn’t testify, his account is only a published article). However, Gregory’s testimony might undermine Ari’s credibility – which Fitzgerald would not want to do – Ari proves Libby not truthful. The defense wouldn’t want Gregory to back up Dickerson because then it makes them all (the WH folks) look more calculated – that they were more apt to know Plame was covert. So interesting.
