Clarks dropping out strategic?
Well, I think there is a good chance that Clark realized that he and Edwards were splitting the southern vote.

I wouldn't be suprised if Clark endorses Edwards.

Had you combined their two votes, They would have won tenesse and had a close 2nd in virginia.

If so, that probably makes it a good 2 man fight, Kerry v Edwards.

Either that, or he will endorse Kerry and essentially put another nail in the coffin of non-Kerry presidential hopes.

1. Nope
Clark will support Kerry and work hard for him. Clark would like to be Secretary of Defense. Maybe even VP - but there's no way he would announce support for Edwards - just no way.

6. Clark can't be a SecDef
There's like a law requiring a SecDef to be out of the service for like 10 years before they can take that position. It's to make sure civilian control of the military is maintained. They don't want people walking straight out of the military into civilian designated positions.

12. How about Secy of State?
I was hoping for Defense or State if his candidacy didn't work out.

14. Please
Come on. You're disappointed, and I understand. No hard feelings at all. Clark gave a HELL of a speech tonight.

7. well
I don't think Clark is dropping out as strategy to help Edwards.
Indeed, I suspect Clark will endorse Kerry sooner over later.

13. My vote is not transferrable. It always belonged to the Democrats. But...
But my support is certainly earnable. Wes Clark will not dictate who I support next and I don't even think he'll try. He respects us all too much for that. He's doing the right thing by dropping out, just as he's done the right thing all his life (um, except when he voted for Nixon--that was pretty dumb).

17. Just Heard on CNN
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 11:34 PM by sparosnare
not sure who said it - the Democratic Party will do everything possible to make sure Clark is happy and stays supportive and active in the party - they need a 4 star general in their corner.

Then I heard Pucker Carlson say the Edwards campaign is probably mad at Clark for not dropping out out before tonite so Edwards could've done better. :grr:

20. Forget Edwards
No way Clark believes Edwards is qualified to be president at this point in history. He will support Kerry, whose military experience he respects and who has spent a lifetime thinking about foreign affairs, which is a lifetime more than John Edwards.
