So how is Richardson supposed to raise the money to compete with...
...HRC, Obama or Edwards? He has the experience to govern and potentially national appeal, but will have a hard time in this primary process.

I would like a shot at winning next year. Having some charasmatic candidate win the primary but lose in the fall will not do us any good. Neither will actually electing someone who does not have the experience to govern.

1. THIS is why the first primaries are in small states. The more front-loaded they are...
the less likely dark horses can win. Carter and Clinton would have had a harder time getting nominated under some of the proposed schedule changes.

2. Very true
I cannot believe that some of the people who hated last year's process are supporting moving states like California up. That'll make money even more influential. I like moving up SC & NV (although I would have preferred NM), but no more. We have to have a beginning process that lets anyone participate.

3. I know, it's a BAD idea. I like Richardson and Dodd a lot. Clark too. I like them all...
and would like to see a competitive primary process.

4. It wouldn't surprise me if he became our nominee. He is certainly qualified.
He has a uphill battle, but so did Kerry, Clinton and Carter. Remember the polls that had Lieberman leading the pack in 2004?

6. I dunno. It sure seems that senators tend to have their eye on the oval office
more than governors lately.

I am still waiting for some surprise candidates...
