Greatness slips through America's fingers
We had the chance, it is over now. Hopefully Wesley Clark will have something to do with the next administration. God Bless this man.

6. I hope so.
I don't want to offend Edwards supporters, but I would like to see at least one war opposition candidate on the ticket.

9. I posted on Sun. "Clark: Greatness slipping through our fingers?"
Those were the exact words I used. You used the same wording in your post tonight. How ironic.

It does indeed look like "greatness has slipped through our fingers".

I am too sad for words tonight.

This is much tougher than I thought it would be.

12. You're right.............

much tougher than I thought it would be.......I'll never forget the weekend I spent in New Hampshire before their primary, campaigning for General Clark and attending 2 rallys, listening to him, meeting him, ......i've never done anything like that in my life and I don't think I ever will........

The party seems closed a little (or at least that's how I feel). His skill sets would have given us a good president.

11. No primary voting for me.
For the first time since 1976, I won't vote in the primary. I don't really have a backup candidate. Let me take the time to thank the media for choosing John Kerry my behalf. At least I'll save some expense on gas to the polling place.

29. I'm not getting my candidate either.
That won't stop my voting, though. Ever.

We're going to get a flawed human being instead of a god. Maybe that's something to be grateful for.

You go home, you mourn, then you get your ass back in gear.

36. Not a question of mourning, my friend.
I just genuinely don't give a rat's ass between Edwards and Kerry. Whoever wins gets my vote in November, but why choose a side just for the sake of choosing. I could flip a coin, I guess, but that seems more irresponsible than not voting at all, IMO.

but Wolfie is still going on about him....He and the rest of the media were pushing Clark out from the beginning, in my estimation....

14. Just heard on Cnn
that Wesley Clark will be dropping out of the race. I wish him well and hope he continues to speak out against the war. He is a very admirable man. Hopefully his patriotism and knowledge will continually be honored. Be nice to see him in the administration of whoever wins.

15. He was the best chance to turn this country around, to save us.
Now I'm getting scared for our future. And very, very scared if * gets a second term. I'm so bummed. Clark was the first candidate I'd gotten really excited about in a long time. I got involved in the campaign. This is a sad, sad hour. God help us.

Sad day for us Clark supporters, but a sadder day for our country.

Oh what might have been... What a historic chance lost.
History would have been shaken by that great man.

17. Truly saddened by this
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 11:26 PM by nu_duer
Moments ago I was toasting Clark supporters on the optimistic speech on Cspan. This is really hard to take. Clark was always a strong second for me, and I think there was an unspoken bond between many on the Clark side and the Dean side. In the end, as I saw it, we were really on the same side.

Right now, I feel a profound loss, not just for a movement, but for our country.

I hope that General Wesley Clark continues to spread his message - and plays a major role in the continuing campaign to give America back to the people.

Inadequate words.

Good vibes to all.

25. We had a chance and threw it away
Bush, Kerry, Edwards... doesn't matter, nothing will change.

I hope Wes Clark goes back to Arkansas, makes his 40 million, plays a bunch of golf, enjoys that grandbaby and maybe several more. He's earned it, and America doesn't deserve him.

But I will always wonder what could have been.

Fuck it: Clark in 2008!

28. People! People! Can we stop all the "fucking"???
I know this is a sad night. But really, the writing was on the wall, and I say that as a staunch Clark supporter! I'm sad that he won't be the next president, but I don't think we've seen the last of Wes Clark! This is a man who loves this country, who has given his life in her service, and who will continue to do so wherever and whenever duty calls!

Duty has NOT finished with Wes Clark. He has a lot to contribute to America, and I'm CONVINCED he will be a valuable part of the next, DEMOCRATIC Administration!!

To the Dean people, I say a heartfelt THANK YOU. As for the Edwards people, get real, your guy could well be the next to go, so don't be too smug. Your guy has precious little experience and precious little appeal outside the South, and judging by Tennessee and Virginia, not overwhelming appeal there! So don't be too smug. This isn't Edwards' year either (although, like Clark, I don't think this will be the end for Edwards' political future).

Also, with sadness, I changed my avatar tonight.
