Interesting Hillary rant from Big Eddie
http://www.bigeddieradio.com/editorial/index.asp

"What loyal listeners should know about Hillary and her people"

By Ed Schultz

Hillary Clinton is off and running. Great! What does it mean for progressive talk and the audience?

Loyal listeners to the Ed Schultz show have helped us propel into the top 10 of syndicated talk shows in the industry. We are proud of that and our recent numbers coming back show we are beating Sean Hannity is numerous markets. What we do works.

Convincing Hillary Clinton and her arrogant handlers of that is a different battle in itself. We are known for connecting with the newsmakers as well as any talk show.

Many of you have requested hearing from Hillary on progressive talk especially The Ed Schultz Show. I want you to know our producer James Holm tirelessly works the contacts and has repeatedly tried to connect with Clinton's people.

Cutting to the chase, Hillary's people treat us like dirt. We are constantly disregarded, told things that aren't true, and given speculation an interview might happen someday.

5. Yes, HILLARY does owe her job to the DLC. Big Ed HATES the DLC...
So I hope to hell you're not talking about him.

If you are --- log onto one of his live chats and ask him about it YOURSELF.

He chats live at least once a month, usually on Thursday nights.. and he'll respond to ANY question you have.

Why assume Eddie is at fault.

Perhaps your candidate could benefit from more radio exposure.

I could give a flying fuck about Hillary at the moment. She's not toward the top of my list, tis true, but I don't actively seek out Hillary threads to bash.

Why would it be Hillary bashing to point out that her people might be less than personable.

That lack of person skills might do them in.

But hey, if you want to proceed as if everything Hillary and her people do is golden and slam whoever even suggests that there might be room for improvement, thereby forgoing a possibility of improving one's approach, knock yourself out.

It's not making me want to give her a look see, that's for sure.

love to listen.

I think Bernie Ward could do a great job on that.

As for Eddy, I don't listen to him much....my husband does, so I'll have to ask him to give me an update on him.

His comments do seem egotistical, it's a bit early, damn, she just declared her candidacy....give her a break!

BTW, I wouldn't call it a lack of person skills, but she definitly needs to work on the sometimes negative perception that she is not a warm/caring person. Personally, I think she is.

I think alot of people find her capable and intelligent, and she has many strengths, but will need to work on the weaknesses.

I don't think Hillary supporters have a problem discussing the pros/cons of her, sometimes we may question the motives.

I've talked with you many times and have found you to be a fair-minded person, but I find "Big" Eddies comments a non-issue.

It's just her "people"

And I have to admit there are times that Eddie annoys me, but he's all I have in the car that isn't Rush or some local idiot.

Oh, and thanks.

I'm not much for being called a robotic anything, Kerry fan or otherwise. I don't know enough about her to be giving a hard time yet.

38. It's childish on the face...
And he sounds like Bill O'Reilly whining that people won't come on his show...

In addition, there were posts earlier on this topic that showed Eddie in a bit different light on this matter. I probably shouldn't have assumed everyone read that...

But the whole thing makes Eddie look like a spoiled child!

And I like Eddie, I listen to his show...this kind of whining is beneath him.

3. Big Eddie was on Tucker today & yesterday.. and on Larry King last night..

He just spoke about Hillary's lack of access to progressive radio hosts on Tucker.

Ed's been saying on his chats that John Kerry told him that what Hillary is doing was one his his BIGGEST MISTAKES .. That he should have made himself more accessible to the actual supporters.. to the people who don't have the mega bucks to fork out just to see him... to the average American...

Hillary's camp isn't listening.. Evidently, Obama's camp is.

7. I doubt that
I'm sure she will do plenty of interviews on progressive radio. She just declared five days ago. I'll bet she'll end up on Ed's show. It's very different once you're a candidate. Trust me, none of our top candidates will make the mistakes Kerry did in '04, that I can guarantee.

27. The Buzz around Liberal Internets was that Clintons and others sponsored Big Ed's Show!
This is quite a surprise. Was there disinformation about Ed Schultz being promoted around DU?

Heard it was not only Clintons but Daschle who were involved in pushing his show on air.

I'm a bit of a talk radio junkie!

NEWSFLASH: My husband just told me that he was listening to Tom Hartman on AAR and he says that 2 people have been arrested for rigging the 2004 election in Ohio in 1 of the counties.

This story seems to have some legs, maybe you want to check it out? Give me an update if it turns out to be something important that we haven't heard before.

Just thought you would like to know....

15. From working in congressional offices...
...people often take responses to interview requests as "not true" because they feel personally slighted when denied and denied repeatedly. But the fact is that their time, especially for those as prominent as Clinton, is spoken for quickly and they don't like to commit to things many months ahead in case big things come up. It's sort of being caught between a rock and a hard place for the scheduler. They have to be careful of scheduling too far ahead, and more immediately they likely don't have any openings for interviews. So "being told things that aren't true" probably is more subjective than objective. And being treated "like dirt" is perhaps exaggerated somewhat and is probably partially due to their own attitude which likely results from being slighted.

I've dealt with these situations and some people who try repeatedly and feel personally slighted by the lack of availability tend to be borderline harassing in their tone and that isn't taken well and the office probably responded in a similar tone after repeated occurances. And in my experience, that is what becomes taken as being treated "like dirt."

Congresspersons have to prioritize and radio programs aren't usually high on the list for a variety of reasons: 1)It reaches only a certain part of the population 2)They want it to be someone who will engage in objective dialogue 3)Congresspersons hate doing interviews over the phone (which is usually the approach used as it often is the only that fits into their busy schedule...Yes, in the past they were only in session 3 days a week, but they were at work every day and worked usually at least 50-60 hours per week).

22. Depends on what he means by being treated like dirt
He's said in the past that they've also been arrogant as well. It's one thing to say "Sorry, she's busy" without burning one's bridges with someone you might need later, as opposed to acting like someone like Ed would be lucky to get an interview with the likes of Hillary.

25. Correct, but...
..."arrogant" is also subjectively used by those who feel personally slighted by the lack of availability of a congressperson. I've seen it many times in situations where the office wasn't really rude or arrogant, but was just being honest and repeatedly didn't have time for interviews for the reasons mentioned in my previous comment.

He actually said that you don't forget the people who "made you who you are."

I lost all respect for him at that point. MKJ

edited to add, the cause of his rant was his having to wait for Cindy to call him, while she was in the ditch in Crawford.
