OH PLEASE!!! Hillary's 19 points ahead of Obama
If i were her i wouldn't want to be that far out a year away. there's going to be debates in which a lot of these candidates will do good.if you look at the state by state polling which counts theres others like Obama and Edwards who are closer. Edwards bets her in NH and Obama is beating her in his state of Illinois and he's three points behind her in CA. how is McCain all of a sudden in front of Rudy http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1582130,00.html

1. Polls at this point are like predicting 2012 World Series winner
The primaries are a year away. Lots and lots of water will go under the bridge before that season begins.

Go Milwaukee!

13. Maybe by then, Cincinnati will have some pitching, Adam Dunn will be
with the Brewers, Griffey will have retired, and once the Reds win the world series, the world will end on 12/21/12. That would be about right.

:P

2. At this point, I think the polls are measuring name recognition
more than anything else. How can anyone consider Rudy Guiliani a serious contender? He may make a showing on the rubber chicken circuit, but wait until the rest of the country finds out about him living with his then mistress while his wife was in Gracie Mansion.

5. That picture is why Guiliani will never get the GOP nomination.
Whether his progressive stance on gay rights is real, political, or otherwise, this picture shows him to be a little too gay-friendly...well, at least that's how the religious zealot right-wing nutjobs will perceive it.

So I say spread this picture far and wide!

6. Good snap shot of where things stand today...
Also notable in that poll...

Hillary's positive to negative rating is 17% (58-41)

Obama's at %47 - Though 51% said they did not know enough to form an opinion...as opposed to 94% for Hillary...Guiliani and McCain also had lower numbers (in the 70's)

I suspect we will see those numbers tighten....

As Obama gets more exposure his negatives will inevitably rise, though I think will retain a positive ratio, and I suspect Hillary's will drop some as happened in New York...

9. Stuff we should learn and do
What we should do: Give Hillary Clinton credit. She has worked this thing perfectly over the past few years and is now enjoying the fruits of her labor.

What we should learn: As someone said, polls are a snapshot of where we are today, and are subject to change as events dictate. Several people posted against Hillary recently, citing Obama's great position in the polls. What happened to that? Its not wise to make one's position based on today's polls (as so many in our party did prior to the war). Its far wiser to make one's position based on where people will be tomorrow.

If we could get that one, we'd be in a permanent majority.

14. Another way of looking at that is that ...
Obama is a clear second in a presidential race even though he's 2 years removed from a state legislature and he's in the middle of a racist smear attack by Republicans.

Obama's name will always be a handicap, but most people are going to get tired of hearing about it. And raw thirst for power is unappealing in a candidate- I think voters will sense it in Hillary much more than Obama. Plus, Obama is a better public speaker. He will only rise and Hillary will only fall, though she still must be considered the favorite.
