For only when the battle is joined can the true mettle of warriors be tested, the skills of leaders be put to the test, and the outcome be determined. Nothing is ever certain in any struggle, and ours is no different then any other! We are joined in a battle for the very survival of our cause, and I for one SHALL NOT SURRENDER!!! Warriors only lose on the field of battle when they believe that they cannot win, and I believe that not only we CAN win this day, but we WILL win this day!

We are met in a great struggle in Tennessee, and there in the fair hills and forests and valleys and rivers of the land will the fate of the nation be decided. And even if defeat should be what is to happen for us, surrender we will NOT! We are NOT beaten, we are NOT bested, and we shall NOT bow to ANY foe until they prove upon us that we have been defeated!

The odds seem stacked against us. Many have said that we could not win. The powers that be seem set against victory for Wes Clark. They know not what they are missing, they do not know how foolish they are in turning him away! We will prove them wrong tonight!!!

If it is our fate to be defeated today, then defeated we shall be, but we will not go down quietly, no! We shall go down in the crash and thunder of arms, in the cry of many a voice, with honour and dignity intact! Defeat may happen, but it shall NOT! NOT THIS DAY! NOT THIS DAY! I say unto all of ye, defeat may come, but NOT THIS DAY!!!

What I said was not meant negatively BTW. Aragorn's speech was one of the high points of the whole series IMO. My girlfriend almost started crying at that point.

General Clark simply has to be part of our movement to take this country back from the forces of rightwing extremism. I'm not a warrior, but the fact that General Clark rescued 1.5 million Kosovars and Bosnians from the jaws of genocide makes him a hero in my book. If only he had entered the race earlier.
