When Clark stays in, the media will be like: "Clark once again shows that he is a flip-flopper, he can't commit to any decision. He was prepared to drop out, and then he decided to stay in after seeing results in Tenn."

Spin spin spin.

23. Give up NOT hope!!!
For only when the battle is joined can the true mettle of warriors be tested, the skills of leaders be put to the test, and the outcome be determined. Nothing is ever certain in any struggle, and ours is no different then any other! We are joined in a battle for the very survival of our cause, and I for one SHALL NOT SURRENDER!!! Warriors only lose on the field of battle when they believe that they cannot win, and I believe that not only we CAN win this day, but we WILL win this day!

We are met in a great struggle in Tennessee, and there in the fair hills and forests and valleys and rivers of the land will the fate of the nation be decided. And even if defeat should be what is to happen for us, surrender we will NOT! We are NOT beaten, we are NOT bested, and we shall NOT bow to ANY foe until they prove upon us that we have been defeated!

If it is our fate to be defeated today, then defeated we shall be, but we will not go down quietly, no! We shall go down in the crash and thunder of arms, in the cry of many a voice, with honour and dignity intact! Defeat may happen, but it shall NOT! NOT THIS DAY! NOT THIS DAY! I say unto all of ye, defeat may come, but NOT THIS DAY!!!

STAND FAST, MEN AND WOMEN FOR GENERAL WESLEY CLARK!!!

54. I will leave the party with Clark if he goes
I really do believe in this man. I really do. I was part of draft movement. In my caucus, I don't care if Clark is gone or not, I will vote for him. If he fails to get enough votes to win any delegates I will switch to Kucinich.

I will vote for the Dem nominee to get Bush out. But after that my party loyalty will no longer be there. It will by the person only. I might even move to the Libertarian or Green Party.

I don't want Kerry being the standard bearer of the Democratic Party. I am thinking of a third party pretty soon here.

63. Ditto
Clark made me think that the Democratic Party could actually be more than just a pale reflection of the GOP. If he fails to gain second here, then I guess what I first felt is true. I'll go back to the Green Party, vote for the Dem nominee, and PRAY that we beat Bush. And just to be sure, I'm going to do what I can to get political asylum in NZ.

62. To the hardcore Clark fans here
You guys are freakin' awesome. It has been amazing to watch Draft Clark, evolve into the Campaign. Truly inspiring to see the good this race has brought out in some folks. Your commitment to the General and especially eBlocking has been incredible. you need to make up some eBlock veteran t-shirts or something and write in your number of calls. If this is the night. then on the bright side I hope you all take a well deserved vacation, or a vacation from GD2004 forum . Wes may be the candidate, but you guys are all leaders. Don't know the outcome tonight, but still hopeful. I am definitely certain that Wes has made an indelible mark on the political scene and all of us.

On behalf of all the Clark fans up here in Canada, Good Job!!!

97. Thanks Demo
I needed that! Been rooting and working for Clark 24/7 since last April. I'm exhausted! He is truly additive. So is this site! When I first started lurking around here...looking for comments about Clark...they were few and far between. Everything was about Dean. It was such a nice evolution to see so many others get the message about about what a wonderful candidate we had in Clark and see all the enthusiasm and loyal backers of Clark. I love all of you. But, pardon my while I go and cry. Wipes tears. Sniff, sniff!

Congratulations tonight. Whatever happens in the future, I just wanted to say that I appreciate you and your candidate. Clark is a great man and you have fought the good fight. The country and the Democratic Party are better for it. :yourock:

you people have represented your candidate well. You have good reason to be proud. Clark is a good man, if you convince him to stay in the race...that would be a good thing.

71. Were we kidding ourselves?
Were we kidding ourselves when we thought we could change our party? We're we just floating in the clouds when we thought that our party wanted someone genuine and intelligent to represent their interests?

I'm heartbroken by the TN numbers right now. Michael Moore was so right - Clark was a GIFT, and while some of us accepted that gift, others just missed it entirely.

I don't want to be a disgruntled democrat... but right now, I'm not very proud of our party. Right now, I'm not sure I want to be a democrat.

Were we just kidding ourselves when we believed that democracy meant that our voices mattered?

77. Not only did they miss the gift, but they derided it.
That, to me, was the greatest crap. It seems that we were kidding ourselves - yes. I just want to cry all night. It seems this whole thing did nothing but teach me how much I and my voice DO NOT matter. They can't even speak respectfully of him now. Still the crap goes on. He was a plant to divide the party. He was a plant to ensure Kerry's victory. I have had it!!!!! Maybe in a couple of days, I can calm down enough to think rationally about some of the other candidates whose supporters have been so incessantly rude and thoughtless.

92. I just made a separate thread
I took my statement about why Wes needs to stay in this race that was on the first Clark Support thread, and gave it it's own header. Far as I'm concerned if Clark wants to campaign all out, I am with him. If he wants to scale back the campaign and become our Ace in the Hole Reserve candidate in case Kerry destructs, I can accept that also. But I do not want him to formally withdraw, at least not until after the March 2nd races. Too much can still happen to change all the equations. Clark needs to be available to step forward again. He and Kerry have become alter egos in many ways, but Clark also brings to the table much of what Edwards and Dean offer also.

174. Kerry could self-destruct
The Rove machine wants to drive down voter turnout and create apathy. They will do that by individually tearing down each one of our candidates until we are all disillusioned.

Clark should wait in the wings. Scale back the campaign...but do not do anything rash until after the convention.

Not only hasn't the fat lady sung yet, she isn't even warmed up.

103. No, I don't think so. The candle still burns....
I don't think we were kidding ourselves. I don't think any of us expected the media to alternately blast our candidate and ignore him entirely.

I'm not even sure why. Maybe the media really is completely controlled by the RW, and they fear Wes as an opponent.

I know that were I in their shoes, it would have scared me to death. He seemed the perfect antidote to what ails us - Bushie disease.

Please don't blame the party. There are a lot of decent and good Democrats out there. Had they all gotten the opportunity to learn about Clark as we have, things would have certainly been different.

This isn't the end for Wesley Clark. I think it's only just the beginning. Be proud of him, though. Consider this: he did incredibly well for a rookie in the political arena. A bunch of 2nd place finishes and 1st in Oklahoma is more than most people would have ever dreamed possible just a few short months ago.

We know he's the best candidate and that he had the potential to change America. That doesn't mean that he still won't!

89. Here's a pick me up!
Over hill, over dale, As we hit the dusty trail
And Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!
In and out, hear them shout, Counter march and right about
And those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!
Then it's hi, hi, hee, In the field artillery
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
Where'er you go, You will always know
That those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!

In the storm, in the night, Action left or action right
See those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!
Limber front, limber rear, Prepare to mount your cannoneer
And those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!
Then it's hi, hi, hee, In the field artillery
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
Where'er you go, You will always know
That those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!

Was it high, was it low, Where the hell did that one go?
As those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!
Was it left, was it right, Now we won't get home tonight
And those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!
Then it's hi, hi, hee, In the field artillery
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
Where'er you go, You will always know
That those Wesley Clark supporters go rolling along!

133. Regrets about staying out of Iowa?
Admitted it to someone in the crowd. Things may have been different.

138. I encourage you to empty your wallets and give all you can to Clark.
Help him stay in. Nothing else will keep him in the race.

139. OK. I'm crying now
and I'm a grown woman.

When Wes said "tell that woman who's crying to come over here" my heart broke. The men who flocked to him--the guy who said, "I wish you'd been there in Iowa, Gen. Clark. I stood up for you" and Wes said "I wish I'd been there too. Things might be different"--it just ripped me up.

I really admire Wes so much. I don't regret a moment I spent calling, writing letters, or in Arizona on his behalf. He makes me proud to be a supporter.

140. Okay, I'm crying again
I just got the most amazingly loving e-mail from one of our Clark friends. It was a "buck up little camper" response, to my "the democratic party sucks" pitty party. But here's the clincher... he said,

"In my heart, I will always be a Wes Clark Democrat."

As if that weren't enough, at the same time, my friend e-mailed me from across the country and said, "I know you are hurting tonight, and I know how you must feel. I just wanted to remind you why you've fought so damned hard for Wesley Clark." Attached, was this picture:

I have zero words. I'm just so grateful for you guys! Thanks Wes, for sticking it out and fighting too.

143. OK he's gonna drop out tomorrow. If I were Clark falling asleep 2nite
in a hard hotel bed knowing I could be @ my house with my spouse expecting my kid and their spouse and new grandbaby over for dinner the next night. Knowing that there would be no Secret Service in my face day after day...

I wouldn't stay, I'd go home as fast as I can live my life make my millions and enjoy the hell out of it.

At least I know I am not alone. I wish voters would pay as much attention as we do. Unfortunately, we are a self-absorbed nation, as long as we can pay the rent/mortgage/car payment, why pay attention to politics.

148. I'm actually crying
I don't think I've ever cried so much on an election night before. 2000 was more bewilderment than anything else. Of course, I was pretty sad when the evil entity that is Phill (yes, there's two L's in his name) Kline got elected to be AG, but my sadness was overwhelmed by the happiness of electing Kathleen Sebelius, etc.

It's a sad night at our house tonight.

Karl Rove, the Corporate Media, the Rep. party and Bush et al must be soooo happy. Their worst fear is gone and the damn Sheeple helped them achieve their goal. I can't fucking believe it!

Everyone in the Clark camp feels the same way.

It started to set in slowly with me. I was filled with rage and now I'm just sad. Sad for this Party and where it's going. Not just because of Clark. Because of the whole process.

171. Clark isn't gone.
Most likely he will not become President, and that is so painful to say, though there still is that faint chance. Nonetheless, Clark isn't gone. Clark has arrived. So very few people even knew Wes Clark's name 6 months ago, or who he was, or what he thought, or what he believes in.

Now tens of millions have met Wes Clark. Most of them know very little of him still compared to most of us here. Some in fact met him for the first time tonight as they leaned into their television sets to see what he would do about the "horse race." And instead they saw his grace and heard his power. Now they have met him, and they have heard him, and they can recognize something inside him. They can see that Clark means what he says and cares about what matters. And Clark will never again be silent about America. And from now on there will always be people who hear him. Wes has arrived, and one way or the other, he will not stop fighting for us. He's an old soldier. As honorable as they get. God bless him.

:grouphug:

Sorry I couldn't be here through the fingernail biting, I was also going nuts trying to find any information (in or out).

I guess we will know for sure tomorrow.

Don't assume the worst, there is no reason to not bow out right now, if that's what he was going to do.

164. It seems the right thing to do
after you listen to Clark talk about fighting for our country, and you see how sincere he is, how intelligent, and how courageous. I've never been caught up in an election like this before.

Whatever happens, I want to say that Clark has made a difference and there is a reason for everything that will be clearer tomorrow.

Night All.
