I saw Hillary w/ Katie Couric tonight.
I am sorry but everything she does and says looks "focus group tested" and
way too calculated.

She had a "snappy new do" for her hair with blond coloring and highlights but her
"sideburns" (female equivalent of sideburns) were left grey .... In what
I took as trying to project "a mature and thoughtful image."

Maybe I am not the brightest light on God's Xmas tree but I thought the look
is just too freaking planned.

Mary Jo Kilroy for President in 08.

1. Would anyone go on national TV without planning ahead of time?

14. I'm ready for MY closeup...
however one might argue that 6 1/2 years constitutes as enough time to plan...

5. In 04 I worked for Kerry in Ohio
and in 06 I worked for Mary Jo ....

I got an e mail today asking for me to come and help use
my "winning ideas" at some meeting.

I swear I could lose if I bet on a horse race with only one horse running.

3. The main problem I have with people criticizing her looks or style
is would you do the same as if it were a male?

If you are going on a job interview wouldn't you do your hair up nicely even a new cut, put on business attire and put on your interview game persona?

The media is warping peoples view on Hillary and I don't think that it's legitamate....

Dems need to wake up and in the primaries pick the best candidate, whether it's Hillary or whomever we better get our act together...or some Repug will slip into the Presidential role again and this country will be destroyed.

That's all....

9. I would object to it if it was a male too.
I know that you have to play the game but this seemed a little
"over the top."

But then again I might be wrong.

4. This is the "big time" now. It's going to be all Hillary all the time.
Personally the whole thing leaves me ice cold, one long run of NAFTA, China, & Welfare reform was enough for me.

6. Her hairstyle was the same as it has been recently
though I really don't think it's terribly relevant to the interview at all.

8. As opposed to wash and towel dry, comb back and GO!
Well, she tried that, actually. When she first became a senator the media wrote articles about how much less attention Hillary was paying to her make-up and hairstyle now that she was no longer a first lady.

Man alive. She can't even try to look nice without being criticized. I knew it was this bad, though, can't say I'm surprised. But damn....

12. Dick Nixon went on tv Unplanned in 1960 debate and lost bigtime

JFK planned his tv debate appearance and won. Reagan dyed his hair. GW Bush costumed himself for image-remember the bomber pilot jacket or the cowboy boots ?

Personally I want leaders with the ability to plan--planning is wise. The problem is what they are planning, not whether they plan.

26. I'm suggesting people who plan are more likely to win and that

anyone can utilize the media to project the image he or she wants. It's up to the viewer to decode. I think Bush gave up on the costumes because they stopped working for him.

19. um, like john edwards doesn't seem calculated?
well they all are calculated, at their level they better have some sense of what they want their image to be
and the sense to make their image match their true selves.

look at bush, he has his image calculated, but it doesnt match his reality as a war criminal and sociopath.

This is politics. No politician gets far without that characteristic.

15. It's not her looks, its her trustworthiness that bothers me
Her F.U. attitude to the the base on Iraq until she saw the recent polls, and her walled-in personality turns me off from her.

I can say about Clark, Obama, Richardson, Edwards, even Biden that they seem to have a pulse - a human connection factor. Sorry, I can't say that for Sen Clinton. I really wish I could.

18. And you didn't notice that Katie was vicious towards Mrs. Bill Clinton?
You didn't mention that Katie looked like hell as she does nightly.

Hillary looked much better on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams sitting at the desk. CBS positioned her in a chair at an angle to look fat.

25. I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks that's "calculated"
is out of his/her mind. What the OP called "sideburns" does not look calculated at all; if anything, it looks like a bad dye job, or a wig worn on top of hair that hasn't been dyed. If she were going for the "mature and distinguished" look, she would have had gray elsewhere.
