Poll question: Is Hillary a member of an American Ruling Elite?
The Clinton and Bush families have been described as an exclusive group of ruling elites.
Do you agree with this statement?

1. Senator Clinton don't show me nuthin'
But no, she is not a member of some "ruling elite". She's a high-profile politician who is married to a former president. That's all.

4. the bush family and the clintons are nothing alike.
the bushs are pure evil. they think we were all put on the earth to serve them. this is generational. they believe they are born to it.

bill came from nothing and hillary worked her way up from the middle class. they still believe they are part of the whole.

6. True enough. You gotta be born a Bush. . .
Just about anybody can become a Bill or a Hillary Clinton.

17. Still waiting for that reply eh? 95% of Hillary bashers are unable to back up their claims.
If I were running for office,I'd hate to have any of these types working on my campaign.

19. 95% lifetime ADA rating
that means she's voted with the Democratic majority 95% of the time. I guess that makes all those other Democrats elites, too?

C'mon, ...

you could at least try a little creativity with your smears.

8. If the Clintons are "ruling elite", it's because they earned it
Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 08:10 PM by orangepeel68
Unlike the bushes.

Neither were born into or married into a "ruling elite" family. Her family had money, as I recall, but not anything like bush money. And Bill worked his way up from absolutely nothing.

I don't know what "ruling elite" means, if the bushes and clintons are both in it, so I'd say "no"

10. I voted "Yes"
And I think that is a bad thing in general, and a "downtick" one my score card for Hillary. Having said that, I am pretty committed to not making up my mind until I hear much more from the candidates. We're way early in the process and I have a lot of time before I decide behind whom I shall throw such support as my limited means and skills allow.

I would have to say I am leaning Edwards a little bit right at the moment. But that could change next week. More will be revealed over the next 24 months. I want to see what happens.

She actually reminds me more of Princess Dianna than Darth Sidious.

12. Yes; most high-level politicians are.
The fact that we have family dynasties in politics, and have throughout US history, is a sad reflection of the true state of US democracy.

20. technically, as one of only 100 Senators
of course she is.

But to put the Clintons and Bushes on the same page...

does a disservice to Bill and Hillary, who had to work hard for everything they've achieved.

Unlike the Dimson, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth

and has had a big silver shovel scooping up the shit he's left in his wake.

22. All senators are, by definition. It's not something to be ashamed of.
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 07:39 PM by Donald Ian Rankin
America is a representative democracy. Anyone elected to the Senate or Congress is a member of "the ruling elite" ipse facto.

That's not something to be ashamed of.

I voted for "I don't care".

26. BEHOLDEN to the...
ruling elite may be a more apt description. Or bought and paid for by the ruling corporations to be more blunt. She reminds me toO much of McCain's personality. Willing to sell off her soul bit by bit in order to achieve the presidency until there is nothing good left in her...nothing at all. Just an empty power hungry shell of a soul that has forgotten the reason it wanted to be in power in the first place: To SERVE people.

27. Rupert Murdoch Loves Hillary Clinton
Conservative Media Mogul To Host Fundraiser For Liberal N.Y. Senator

NEW YORK, May 9, 2006

(CBS) To call them a political odd couple would be a rash understatement.

Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch will host a fundraiser for liberal New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, the Financial Times reports.

The mating ritual of the unlikely allies has been under way for months. Clinton set political tongues to wagging last month by attending a Washington party celebrating the 10th anniversary of Fox News, the cable news channel owned by Murdoch...

29. Political Science class
We debated one day about whether our country actually follows the model that anyone can become powerful and that there is a rotation of class representation in our government as some pro-capitalism political theorist said. I said no, of course not. Look at the politicians. Just an endless parade of rich bastards voting for rich bastards.

Honestly, our government is just elites voting for elites...with a tiny few exceptions. Democracy it ain't.
