Kerry wins 2 what do I do? aDeanfan
I've been a pretty loyal Dean man so far. I'm still upset about Kerry's war vote, but have always said I'm ABB. Other Dean and friends of...when is the time(if any) to "jump ship". Is it wrong to push for a Dean VP? Is it still too early to worry, or am I kidding myself?

Dean wasn't planning on winning Tennessee or Virginia. Wait till after super tuesday.

I predict we will win something by then. If not, then you can worry.

4. C'mon, jump ship. I'll catch.
I donated about $800 to Dean, and still like a lot of his message and fire. But it's time for me to cut my losses. He can't win a state - what's the friggin' point?

8. Our money was well spent.
He probably got around $400 from me. I look at it from the perspective of our purchasing a spine for the Democratic Party; money well spent.

13. I totally agree.
I still like Dean a lot. But I have to be sensible, too. I just can't make myself keep throwing money down a rat hole.

Every day that passes from now to November, is a day that we have to be hammering at Bush. We have to hammer on different issues, dynamic messaging, keeping them off-balance. And you can't really focus on that until the entire party is rallied around a single candidate. It's just simply strategy.

7. You don't have to decide to "jump ship" until your primary.
Thank God for Howard Dean. When you look back a year and a half ago, Democrats here were begging the Party to find a backbone. Instead, Howard rammed one right into their spines. Dean won't be the VP but he will have served his country and his Party well. I'm just enjoying the show.

9. There's no hurry to decide.
We have gone from being a shoo in to being also rans. Kerry might well do the same.

The campaign itself keeps the focus on the Democratic candidate and we also serve who keep the issues in front of the public. When (and if) Kerry has enough delegates to control the nomination, we should get behind him (or the ultimate nominee).

I can say this: we have accomplished quite a bit, win or lose. We made it clear that you CAN confront the beast rather than cave into it. If Kerry becomes President of the United States, it will only because Dean lead the party out of the wilderness.

10. Wait until Dean drops out.
Support your guy 'til the bitter end. If you change your opinion of who your guy is, then drop Dean. If not, stick with him. Things may not look good for him, but every vote counts. If Kerry wins, I want it to be because people thought he was the best candidate, as I do, not because they thought their candidate was through.

Just needed the props I guess. I live in Ohio and get a super Tuesday vote. I'm holding on to hope that Dean will be alive here. I'm really worried about him. 3rd and 4th place finishes are scary.

14. e-mail Skinner, request an official 'bandwagon' avatar
or we take Wisconsin

or we support JK, he crashes and burns in the General Election and the Dean, Clark, Kucinich and and Gore grassroots, gets what is left of the Democratic Party at firesale prices.

or maybe John Kerry will win and we can go back to being happy, little

If you want to hear Edwards and Kerry battle it out on their ideas, ask everyone else but Edwards and Kerry to back out.

18. Why jump?
If you liked Dean when he was the perceived front runner, why would you like him less as the underdog? The only reason I can see, and I'm not ascribing this motive to you, is the desire to go with what's popular. I'll bet that was one of the reasons you liked Dean to begin with, that he stood up against what was popular. Dean did it for us, now let's do it for him.

19. ABB is reason
Though not a good reason I admit. I've liked Dean along time and still do. I admit I came to DU looking for more info on him, and seeking well rounded like-minded people. (popular opinions I guess) But, too me, Bush would be/is a disaster. I don't want to be a zombie vote for Kerry, but I will back the Democrat who gets the nod, and it's looking more and more like Kerry. ABK seems crazy to me, IMHO. He would be infinitely better than shrub.

20. Give up when it's statistically impossible.. no sooner.
Bush will not win just because some supporters of other candidates didn't jump on the Kerry bandwagon right away. The longer this primary season is fought, the less time Bush has to take back the airwaves with his nasty-ass photo ops. I'm loyal to Dean, and will stay loyal until it is statistically impossible for him to continue. BUT.. I will continue to fight for what Dean stands for, and why he is SO crucial to this party.

Fight on!!! Read up on primary histories.. you'd be surprised how many miracles have been pulled off later than this.

25. The primaries are not the time to jump boat.
You should continue to support the candidate that best represents you. If he wins, fine. If he doesn't, you have sent a message, along with everone else who voted for him, about your opinions to the eventual candidate. This is a very good thing.

After the candidate is selected, then is the time to either get behind the appointed one or figure out if another national candidate is better suited for you.

There is no benefit in switching just to be on the winning side in the primary. It sends no message and even sends the wrong message that your opinion isn't out there. The primaries are a closed race, no Reps., so stay true to your ideals and let the eventual winner know how you feel about the issues. Good luck .

by people with low message counts ? Not saying there is something wrong with low message counts, I'm just observing a pattern here.

Just speaking for myself of course. I feel good about DU, but it's hard for me to jump in a lot and say, yeah, I agree. Many here are more articulate than I. :( On this point, I wanted to hear some opinions though.

If not stick with Dean until that is over. Even so like some have said anything could happen. Kerry could have a secret love child or is a member of the "I love Saddam" club. Have faith in the doctor he won't lead you down the wrong path
