50. And yet...
Doesn't the Democratic party already recieve around 90% of the African American vote? I don't think that balances the ticket and Sharpton has as much baggage (and does as much to balance the ticket) as adding the senior Senator from Mass. I bet that Gephardt or Edwards are added. Edwards gets the nod for the Southern Strategy and Gephardt if the party is going to try and circumvent the South.

Unstoppable is nearly the adjective required to describe the campaign now. Barring a complete disaster, I believe we have a nominee.

6. This is between Kerry and Bush now
I'm sorry, but I'm sick of pretending Kerry has any competition for this nomination. The voters have spoken and Kerry's challengers have been rejected. It's time to unite behind Kerry and focus all of our resources into defeating Bush. Bring it on.

16. Kerry / Kucinich in '04

Being Australian, i can't vote in the upcoming election, so I've been doing a bit of campaigning round the web.
One of the aspects of U.S. elections that makes me concerned is that only 40% or so of eligible Americans vote.
I'd be part of a drive to see if we could lift this percentage a little, and if we can try to get the Democrat message out at the same time....
Does anyone agree?

53. agree....it's really really important to get people to VOTE....
especially the YOUNG people here in America....the YOUNG people seem to be proud that they are NOT voting....it is really sad, and nobody can figure out how to encourage the young to VOTE....

here in Virginia, we worked HARD today, since about 5 AM....lots of people....we put a 'voting' location right next to the college campus, that you might have seen on C-span tonight...I was at the evening Rally for Kerry....all the YOUNG people were there, because of the location...a local college campus....some told me that they hadn't voted today, were too busy or didn't care...but they seemed interested in attending the rally....some did vote at the local voting place near the campus, which they found convenient...

if you can help get some YOUNG people to vote....especially here at DU....we 'older' people would greatly appreciate your help...

GO Kerry....beat bush*

33. Remember six weeks ago? ... (a message) ...
It looked like it was over for JK. The a-holes on Faux Noise Nutwork were droning the campaign was dead last, at 3 percent nationally.

Well, in politics, things can change pretty durn fast. And right now it looks like JK is going to clobber shrubalina awol. That may or many not happen.

To make victory MORE likely to happen, we’ll have to bust ass. So keep on keeping on. Spread the message about John Kerry. The truth. And we've got to spread the truth about bushler. All of it.

Then in January, 2005, we can take a breather.

PS: Congratulations on the campaign so far! If you're new, welcome aboard! If you're an old hand, thanks for toughing it out.

37. Vote percentage averages - Kerry has nearly 25% lead
I averaged the vote percentages of the 14 primaries/caucuses so far.

Kerry is leading by such a wide margin, one has to wonder what the others are doing?

Here's what the remaining candidates are averaging in voting percentages:

John Kerry = 43.5%
John Edwards = 18.86%
Howard Dean = 14.14%
Wesley Clark = 13%
Dennis Kucinich = 3.29%
Al Sharpton = 2.29%

Totals: 95.08%; remaining 4.92% attributed to other candidates who have since dropped out of the race.

I am tired of the media and TV talking heads speaking as if the voters are only choosing Kerry because they think he can win. I campaigned for Kerry in NM before the caucus there, and people I spoke to loved the guy. He has a following --it's just that unlike the Dean group, Kerry supporters aren't running around harassing people to gain support. It's more than just betting on a winning horse. Kerry is like Seabiscuit.

45. Ron Reagan, Jr. just said what I've been saying for months...
Kerry needs to (and has been) toning down his 'stentorian' appearance.
It sure looks like JK is going to be the nominee, you can bitch about the process, but the result is the only thing that counts.

So we evidently end up with Kerry with whatever baggage he's perceived to have against a lying POS who has squatted in the White House. It's just a choice. Not voting is another one (assholes like that one.)

49. Joe Trippi just said on Hardball that if Kerry wins Wisconsin...
....he will be the nominee, hands down.

Trippi went on to say that Wisconsin voters are aware of their role in the nomination process and will take it very seriously --meaning they may not want to hand Kerry the win so easily.

Or it could be spun the other way... Wisconsin voters may decide to go ahead and put the lid on this nomination process and give Kerry a big win.

I think if Kerry wins Wisconsin, Dean should drop out and give his supporters time to lick their wounds and get behind Kerry.

After all, it's about unseating Bush/Cheney and taking our country back in the end.

I guess we'll see on February 17th.
