Can somebody explain?
Why John Kerry is getting all the votes he is. I just don't get it. To me its obvious Clark is the right guy for the job. The last thing we need right now is a Washington insider. What gives!

1. Besides Kerry being highly qualified
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 08:02 PM by YouMustBeKiddingMe
The primary motivation is a viceral dislike of Bush and an extreme determination to show him the door in November.

3. Being an insider is not a liability in this election
People aren't anti-Washington, they're anti-Bush.

2. At this point I think the media could get LaRouche to win the primaries
if they tried. I almost thought we were in control.

4. The powers that be want a change from Bush
but not a change from doing business as usual. Kerry has been annointed the nominee. Guarantee no big changes in Washington if Kerry becomes President. Clark and Dean stood for real change and that is unacceptable. Candy Crowley just saying that some would like to see this race stay alive for a couple more weeks.

13. Powers that be = The American Voters!
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 08:18 PM by SangamonTaylor
I highly respect all candidates. Even though my #1 choice for the nominee is John Edwards, I will follow Kerry into November should he win the nomination.

Most importantly, we should not be negative on any of the candidates, except for the candidate that we are going to kick out of the white house.

What has me feeling good about John Kerry was actually a video on his website. See "New Courage" found here:

http://www.johnkerry.com/videos/console.php?video=new_courage

It's a WMV file, I believe, and it is a very powerful message.

I would very much like to see John Edwards continue with the race. He's helping the Democratic party by spreading his message. His message is positive and optimistic, and should he

It's my belief that all of the candidates are a significant reason why Bush support has been weakening. There are different messages coming from 6 (it used to be 9) GREAT candidates, they all are pointing towards a change in leadership, and they are all hurting GWB. They should all continue speaking to crowds, even those who bow out of the race. The nominee cannot be everywhere, and it has been great having so many great individuals out there!

14. agree 100%
I can't beleive this is happening. I was so excited in the beginning. I thought people were waking up to the corruption and greed and finally some real progressive progress was being made. My bad.

9. He went from 7% to 49% in national polls after Iowa and NH
After Iowa he went from 7% ti 29%. It is painfully obvious what is happening here: bandwagon jumpers have hijacked the primaries. :scared:

10. desperate frenzy
Liberals could see the rightwing smear tactics for what they were in 2000, but seem to have forgotten that the best candidate is the one smeared most.

11. Simple: people think he is the best choice for beating Dubya.
I personally don't agree, but if you look at exit polls after exit polls, people whose #1 issue is winning, think he is the man.
Part of it is, ironically, that he is doing so well now, so he is simply looking like a winner.

12. Disagree
The minefield that is Washington today needs an insider. I don't see anything wrong with having someone who knows the difference between Hart, Russell and Cannon.
