Valerie Plame and the brilliant conservative mind
Had a relatively pleasant chit chat in town yesterday with someone not of my political persuasion. Scooter Libby trial came up. My "friend" said that it was no big deal because Plame wasn't an undercover agent. I said she most certainly was, but there was no point in arguing that issue. I did ask him that if Plame was just an insignificant desk jockey as conservatives have been trained to describe her, why was it necessary for the white house to expose her as Wilson's wife after Wilson exposed bush as a liar. (I'm a dagger throwing little motherfucker.) Stammer, stammer, bush didn't lie, we aren't trained to say anything and they had a good reason for exposing her. "What was the reason?" "I forgot, its been so long ago." Okay, have a nice day.

Just like the patriotic conservative who told me he hasn't served in the military "yet!"

Plame and her status as they did to the truth. Probably actually gave MORE weight via airtime to the lies.

This is the pattern they have relied on for over a decade.

3. .
Didn't she and the other people in that "firm" that was set up there had to stop their operations and leave the country?

4. Yeah but
gosh, her husband was mean to bush. Isn't that more important then totally fucking up an undercover operation? We have to maintain and promote values here.

5. Good for you. You did a very admirable thing.
I personally wouldn't be that blunt with a "friend" or relative or employer, but if that person was none of the above, then good for you! :toast:

6. I never intend
on talking politics. We are still contending with Katrina stuff down here (not edging for sympathy) but I find its always good to check with what people in other parts of the county are doing about dead or dying trees and plant renewal and wildlife restoration. But inevitably some bush supporter wants to redirect the talk. I try to maintain a degree of civility with those who live in the area but I will not be cowed by anyone's alternate point of view.
