Lots Of Kerry Bashing, Clark Needs To Get Out Posts Suddenly

I have read multiple posts that have a common theme. We need to stop Kerry, Clark needs to get out, and then a suggestion that Kerry and Edwards need to go one on one.

What and who is behind these posts?

11. Such post are not influential.
We are a politically wise bunch and nothing as basic as bashing will make any one here a convert.

7. My Point is More the Strategy
of the posters than the actual identity.

Seems like the message of a certain campaign or of its supporters is to make Clark go away for the good of allowing a head to head competition.

What is interesting to me is that Clark's wife Gert said last summer when Kerry was doing poorly -- why not Kerry, Kerry should be the one. Clark has said Kerry and he are friends. I would assume that Clark would not allow himself to be bullied out of the race to permit another to go head to head with Kerry.

16. I agree, too.
You can tell....especially the ones who are encouraging people not to compromise their principles and vote 3rd Party. No candidate will support that action.

21. Maybe...
Better than Bush, absolutely.

Better than Edwards? As much as I don't like Kerry, he's still better than Edwards.

Better than Dean? No.

Better than Clark? Hell no!!

8. Edwards was quoted on NPR yesterday.
He said something like he was hoping for a 2nd place finish in upcoming primaries (he had just changed his "official" goal from 1st to 2nd). Then the report said that the Edwards campaign was hoping for a 2 man race ASAP. Maybe that is what spurred those posts.

19. That's why I'm posting it...
Disclosure: I'm an Edwards supporter.

But first I am ABB. I will support Kerry if he is the nominee, but I think he will not have as good a chance to beat Bush as John Edwards would.

I think if we want Bush out, we have to nominate Edwards. In order for Edwards to take this away from Kerry now, we need to get this down to a 2-man race.

In a two man race, head to head, Edwards (or Clark, for that matter) would beat Kerry.

But after tonight, the writing is on the wall for Wes Clark. 10% in Virginia means its over. If we want to beat Bush, we need to nominate Edwards now.

I would be saying the same thing to Edwards supporters (including myself) if Clark was outpolling Edwards 3-to-1 in Virginia. But he's not.

I think a Kerry nomination is a disaster for the Democratic party... even though I'll vote for Kerry if he is the nominee.

I'm not anonymous about it, it is what I believe.

My name is Dean Falcione of Pittsburgh, by the way. I have nothing to hide.

25. Don't Agree, But Respect Your Post

I don't think Kerry is a disaster for the Democratic party at all.

I am a Clark supporter but would support Edwards, Kerry or Clark. I just am not liking the posts I am seeing suggesting Clark should fall on his sword so that Edwards should go head to head with Kerry.

Let me say this - if Kerry can beat Dean, and if Kerry can beat Weld (senate race 1996), I would not be so sure about Edwards beating Kerry. Edwards would have to go negative - which would undermine his entire credibility.

23. CNN reported that Edwards campaign is mad
that Clark has not dropped out. They want to go head to head against Kerry.

Sort of strange, they don't mention Dean.

For some reason Edwards people have been very hostile to Clark; I think they want the VP slot.

29. I Know Edwards Wanted Clark To Drop Out
But that is no reason to treat Clark so poorly.

I don't think the VP slot has anything to do with how Edwards' finishes. In fact, I think Edwards' ability to get the VP slot has more to do with his positive message of hope -- and his southern accent than with his ability to beat Clark (or bash Clark). Edwards' undermines his credibility by going negative on Clark.

Clark's obligation is to himself and his supporters.

I hate the idea of anyone dropping out till we've all had the chance to vote.

I'm funny that way.

26. I'm for Clark as long as he is in the race
No one knows what will happen tommorrow, it seems unlikely that the tide will change but it has in the past and it can again, besides the LONGER the primaries go on the lower *'s poll numbers go as long as the candidates themselves don't chew each other up, which they are not doing (unlike some here on DU). The strategy, keeping the primaries going seem to be an unspoken agreement with the cnadidates. The press and the DNC chairman wants it to be over but too bad. The longer the better.

30. Exactly
Clark would be too big a challenge so get him out of the way. If Clark went one on one with Kerry, Kerry could very well still be the candidate but the people of the United States would have a chance to hear something about the real issues and the real shortcomings of the *.

32. Probably nothing mysterious
Go back to Edwards blog and see if that's there line of the day. I've deleted my Edwards (unsolicited) e-mails the last two days, as I'm drowing in mail. It may have been mentioned there as well.
