I want somebody who can handle the real threats we face with a plan for peace. Clark is perfect, he's liberal and cares about peace with the wartime experience to clean up this mess.

Listening now...Amazing! America's strength is in our economy, and the way to boost that is through helping working peopl... real functional programs and support for unions...unions are "secret weapon" of the american econmy.

edit: And there's the magic words, near the end! Alternative energy, with unions being the keys to making this happen.

16. Then I fear it is going to be just like 2003.
At least I fear that. I hope not. I hope the attacks on other candidates won't permeate this forum.

There is an overwhelmning presence of your group here, and not that many of others anymore. Our group is mostly organized on the ground. I think fair is fair, and there should be some give and take about criticism.

I think I will take it with a grain of salt until his formal announcement.

17. Grain of salt.
I agree.

I think he wants to do everything he can to head off war against Iran first. To wake people up that that's what the escalation is about. He said the other day that policy is the most important thing to him, and once he declares he's running, everything he says will be painted as political -- or something like that.

Without trying to discern other Clarkies' motives for their support of Clark, I can tell you one of mine. It might help explain why any support for Clark runs very deep.

I imagine that means that you will defend General Clark against the unwarranted attacks that will inevitably come his way if he does indeed announce.

Otherwise you'd just look like a big hypocrite with a vendetta and we all know that's not what you are, right? ;)

47. No, I have been honest where I stand.
That is what should be expected of someone. A vendetta? The V word? That is pretty harsh.

At Kos yesterday someone else questioned the huge influx, and they were pretty much accused of a vendetta.

Not true. I don't dislike him, I am not a "Clark-hater", as I was called yesterday. I just don't want him as president. I am honest about it. I think a lot of people feel that way about military in the white house, but they are afraid to say anything. The numbers are overwhelming.

We got very lucky with Ike in the 50s. But not willing to do it again. I don't appreciate being told I have a vendetta, when I am just being honest.

I just said that you were NOT a hypocrite with a vendetta but that certain actions could make it look like you were...and that has nothing to do with supporting General Clark for President...

You may be looking for someone to attack you. I hate to disappoint you but that someone is not going to be me.

Thanks for the links you posted in this thread, BTW.

Peace.

I think the other candidates bring many positive qualities, ideas, and passions to the table...but against Clark they simply don't measure up to that level of preparation, readiness, and competence for assuming the role of President of the United States in the times in which we live.

I intend to keep it positive.

40. Clark's comment on this disturbs me...just a little.
"Clark says he doesn't know what he'll do in 2008, but says America needs him in a leadership role. " That statement could be interpreted to mean...He might not run for President but is looking for a Leadership role...like SoS. I'd much rather have him as President! But, he'd be the best possible SoS we could ever want. Nobody could equal his negotiating abilities. He'd be good for sooo many posts. We must have him somewhere...and it better be the office of President.

"Clark is a former presidential candidate and many believe he will be a contender in 2008. Clark said Monday, "I'll make up my mind in the next few weeks - soon." Commissioner Sparks says that he would like to see Clark in a leadership role in Washington, "America needs a Wesley Clark somewhere. Wesley Clark has a lot to offer this country"

Wes has ALREADY proved he has excellent judgment! All his predictions
and warnings have come true. I don't know what course Hillary, Edwards or Obama plan plan on taking. But, I know in my brain and heart where Clark will take this X-great country. Sooooo many world leaders know him and respect him...that he can retrieve our world status back to where it was when Clinton was president...or before where the present fool/decider in chief has taken us.

YES! Clark is the man...the only man! (No offense to women)

32. Yes Auntie...
Wes Clark has been to the ME already, many times, in the past 2 years. He has their respect. He knows what he is doing, and how to get there. He is a Respected Leader here at home and abroad. When he runs, he will have HIS stategy, based on FACTS, and how to accomplish the goals. It won't be just a political speech, to get votes, it will be a road map, to accomplish unity between ALL parties, both here at home and abroad. He knows all the people who will help make the change happen.

He was just finding his rhythm at about the time he was forced to drop out in 2004. He's a perfectionist and I know he wants to do it right this time win or lose.

BTW I have to add we just have more Presidential lumber this time than we know what to with. I can't wait to contrast that with the Republicans lineup of nuts, quacks, backpedaling Senators, pretenders and Bush administration refugees.

21. Well, I don't for sure if he's running but...
this is a great speech/Q&A. He sure hits on a lot of stuff.

As a child of a union guy, educated on a union scholarship, I love his strong support of unions.

I love his comment on the immigration fence too...."If you don't deal with the issues, the fence is just an eyesore and an embarrassment".

And his comments about the unions acting as "coaches" reminds me of something he spoke of at the Chris Heinz thing a while back, how in the Army, they had such life coaches to help them through tough times and how he felt that was something that everyone should have the opportunity to have.

I just think if this guy gets to be President and gets to do just half of the stuff he'd like to do, this country will just be...well, just so differnet and so much better for all than it is today. Oh, perhaps some of the big business folks and the like won't be happy but it will be a lot better for common folks like me.

God bless him, when I hear him talk like this, I really hope he runs.

BTW, I posted the video in the video forum.

22. The boss rocks!!!
I just watched the video and he's looking a hell of a lot more sharper on the whole speaking front than he did in 2004. He looks much more polished. Presenting himself as the National Security/Foreign Policy candidate is smart because he has selected a pet issue that nobody else in the Democratic field is touching with a ten-foot pole, eventhough it remains the biggest issue of the day.

Run man! Run!

65. I thought Clark/Gore for several reasons
As President, Clark already would know all he needs to know about leading a country in a complex and fractured world. He would be a brilliant Commander in Chief, well respected by many world leaders, as well as both military and non-military. We need someone of his stature and experience and extensive expertise to encourage other countries to negotiate tensions and issues instead of warring. That includes this country. Gore is on a very important campaign that he would be able to continue to pursue as Vice-President.

Great Q and A. I was very impressed with how he has come along as a speaker. There is no way he had a chance with the public speaking skills he showed during 04 campaign, this video makes me just chalk it up to being his first campaign. If anyone is thinking about sending money to one of the candidates Clark would be the guy. Hill/Obama/Johnny dont need. I can see a Send In The General bumper sticker.
