Right wing nuts pushing civil war here
I was just listening to about 20 minutes of the Michael Savage radio program and it was truly frightening stuff. Yes--I know Savage is a nutcase and has been one for years but I have to tell you that he and others(Coulter)perhaps just a tad more subtley are truly pushing a violent confrontation between the left and right in this country.

On today's show Savage was ripping a judge for overturning a case involving an Algerian and turned this all into some leftwing conspiracy by liberals to kill people's family and children by allowing foreigners to blow us up.

What are YOU going to do about that? He asks?

What are YOU going to do about these judges.

What are YOU going to do about the liberals trying to kill your family?

Of course most of his audience is already nuts so it doesn't take much. The first caller talked about having something in his crosshairs and Savage didn't totally dismiss this notion. The caller said his father had warned him these days would come.

Savage is careful how he pushes this--although he comes dangerously close to calling for this civil war outright--he carefully leads his audience to the conclusion while trying to cover his own butt. Also--Savage labels himself a conservative(he isn't)and places the fight of one for all conservatives.

Now--he may be nothing more than a phony(pro wrestler type) but his listeners are not. They soak up his nonsense and it may be only a matter of time before one of these nutbags--influenced by Savage or Coulter--walks into a college like Harvard and starts taking shots.

The bottom line is that his hate speech is far from harmless. He's planting seeds in a lot of lunatics' minds. I believe in freedom of speech as much as anyone---but hate speech is hate speech, and I have little tolerance for it.

Threat to America?

Savage is certainly that.

And so are many of his listeners.

2. Savage....
What can I say about the man that advocated sticking dynamite in Iraqi peoples ass and throwing them off airplanes. Savage is a "weiner". Am I scared of him? HELL NO!! It's just the nut cases that take him seriously that scare me.

4. actually, I prefer my bigots and insane out in the open, so that I can keep an eye on 'em.
Too much Ayn Rand and fundy biblical reading can drive one off balance if not insane. Thank goodness they are rather gregarious, flocking together for the safety of the herd.

5. Fundie Presbyterians feature Ann Coulter in "Reclaim America for Christ"
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 08:00 PM by wishlist
A good example of Fundie churches feeding right wing hysteria by using war terminology and patriotic symbols while encouraging their followers to fight the evils of liberalism is this gem of a conference the Presbyterian Church in America is sponsoring in March. Ann Coulter is a headline speaker as is Sam Kastensmidt who claims that the ACLU is a grave threat to America. They will be rallying the troops in "Power packed training sessions taught by "culture wars veterans" with topics such as "Making America safe for the unborn", "Battle to save marriage", "Darwin's deadly legacy", and "Islam and future Jihad".

Unfortunately the right wing PCA has made significant gains in membership with new churches added in recent years compared to the struggling moderate Presbyterian USA churches.
