Clark Supporters Fingernail Biting Thread
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 07:17 PM by Wife_of_a_Wes_Freak
Okay friends... we can't wait for poor Skinner to find time to start the support threads. We need each other tonight. Get your candles, your smokes, and your booze, and pull up a chair by my fireplace.

this is the first time in the entire campaign i've actually been depressed over Clark. I just don't understand why his message isn't sticking. It BOGGLES my mind.

8. No need to lie here
I feel your pain. I don't know what could have happened differently. The message was there, the money was there, the grassroots support was there... and for the life of me I don't see what everyone sees in Kerry. Kucinich inspires me, Dean inspires me, hell, even Braun and Sharpton got me going back in the good ol' days...

But whatever happens, we found us a good man to believe in. No one can take that from us.

15. Thats the kicker right there:inspiration
I was inspired by Clark from the beginning, but i could also find inspiration in Dean and Edwards and Braun and Cinch but not Kerry. He's just old guard and does nothing to get "the fire in my belly" stoked. It just kills me

75. Ditto

This is so painful. Just heard the Virginia results.
I am so mad because Iowa, not hardly representative of the United States, is the whole reason that Kerry is in the lead.
If it had not been for the Iowa and New Hampshire vote,he would not even be in the running. He was putting everyone to sleep in all the debates. Then Bingo- the genie comes out of the media nottle.

What would have happened if everyone had there Primary on the same day? I am steamed that no urban area even had a chance to vote. This is an outrage.

I am praying that DEAN,CLARK(my heart),DK and Edwards will go on to Super Tuesday. The Democratic Party is trying to win,I'm for that, but this anointing is so sad this early.
Terry Mc A is not my favorite person right now.

My candles are lit.

I'm going to work my ass off to get Bush out of office, and then I'm going to take the next 4 years to rethink my career plans and my party affiliation if this goes the way it looks like its going to go.

If they throw away this election and give the country to Bush for another 4 years, I am leaving, and I am going to give them an earful when I do it. I simply can't stick with a party that would rather lose and become marginalized into insignificance than to take a chance and risk real change.

I've already decided that if I want to belong to a party that can't win elections at least it will be a party that stands for something. I'm looking at joining the Greens after this election cycle is over.:grr:

60. That's also my feeling
it really makes me cynical about the whole process. I know we have had very good candidates in the past who didn't get the nomination--Teddy comes to mind immediately--but have they ever been so shut out in getting their message out? I feel like so much of the campaign is the "horserace" now and not the issues. Electability plays a part in this, too: when we say someone is or appears electable, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Ah yes! He looks good in a suit! He has a "presidential" aura! He exudes confidence! (Hell, I'd exude confidence too if I were winning primaries!).

It sickens me.

32. BITE MY TONGUE
He's in third!

Kerry 15,412 50% 0 8% reporting results by county voter survey results
Edwards 8,277 27% 0
Clark 3,267 11% 0
Sharpton 1,502 5% 0
Dean 1,483 5% 0
Kucinich 280 1%
It's a distant 3rd, but at least he's not trailing Sharpton again. That was humiliating!

And once again, Kerry walks away with it. (*&$)(*&)@&$

I've been distant from DU lately, because I can see us losing our MO. Our personal MO, that is. We're beaten, bruised, and sad. I don't have any pep talks. I'm counting on TN and George Jones to pull me through.

Put some George Jones on the stereo and get with the drinkin'.

Someone started an exit poll thread earlier, and I went way the hell off on AP for suggesting Clark get out of the race so Edwards could take on Kerry.

I had a similar conversation with said individual yesterday when it was claimed that Clark was only in the race to lower his own personal taxes (among other things.) That was a new one!

Oh, and Clark only gets paid in stock or stock options. Did you know that? Of course you didn't - it isn't true!

Sometimes desperation can be funny.

Also, still talking about Oklahoma, if only, blah, blah.

I'm quite tired of the thinking that Edwards belongs in this race & Clark doesn't.

. . .either Clark will represent the Democratic party in November (damn I am hoping and praying) or either he won't. But I am in for the long haul and whomever the nominee is, is going to win with all of our help. I am so excited about November I cannot stand it. I want Clark to steer the ship but I am happy with whomever we choose! I hope you guys know how much of my time and money I have invested in supporting General Clark, regardless of what happens tonight I am confident that we (the Democrats) have what it takes to win in November!!! Chin up! Man up! Fight on! As long as Clark is in it I am fighting for him. . .but regardless of what happens there is nothing thats going to keep me from fighting!!!

79. Clark is the best man for the job
The establishment is afraid of real change which is what Clark represents.(Dean too) The thought of not being able to business as usual in Washington is daunting. Kerry is the establishment and the people are believing the newscast instead of doing their research, if they were Clark would be the front runner. What a shame. When I refer to some people as sheeple I do not refer to the original Kerry supporters, I refer to the politicians that want to "go on record" as supporting the front runner. There are some who believe passionately in Kerry as I believe in Clark, but the majority now are the ABB bunch who think it is just easier to follow the crowd. It is so much better for our party to keep the primaries going because the longer it goes on the lower *'s poll numbers go but Terry Maculiffe "wants" a nominee sooner than later. Congratulation to the true Kerry supporters, shame on those who just piled on the bandwagon. I would have liked to see some of these govenors or long term politicians stick their necks out for real change, I hate the fact that the media is complicit in picking the nominee. 3rd party here I come AFTER the Nov election in time for 2008, I don't care if Kerry is the President.

The Edwards refrain has been growing more hostile since Oklahoma.

I spend a good part of my time defending Wes against Edwards people.

But what is their goal? He is not qualified to be Pres. I think they want Veep.

I've been through this before. I worked for John Anderson in 1980, supported John Glenn in 1984, Gary Hart in 1988, and finally hit paydirt with Clinton in 1992. All of these guys were thinking man's candidates, and so is Clark. It's tough for a candidate like that in America. I have some friends from Europe, and they say that smarts count more than anything else over there, and they also like Clark, if that's any good cheer.

I hope you'll all jump over to the Edwards campaign for March 2 after your man drops out.

Wes Clark is a quality individual, but he's going to withdraw now. The writing is on the wall. Edwards is beating him 3-to-1 in Virginia.

After tonight, only John Edwards will have a chance to stop the Kerry train wreck.

If we combine the Clark and Edwards supporters, we can stop Kerry and have a chance to defeat Chimp boy.

Exit polling from Virginia shows Edwards getting even more veteran voters than Clark.

Edwards is the Dems best chance in November now.... join us and stop the Herman Munster campaign....

Dean is a better choice than Kerry too...

Personally, it would be great if the race was 25-25-25-25, so we could keep this excitement going until the convention.

But the establishment has made their choice... they chose Kerry. If the rest of us want a say, we have to team up.

Whether that means teaming up for Edwards, Clark, or Dean... fine. Pick one.

I like Edwards, but I'd just as soon jump on the others' bandwagon. It just looks like Edwards has the best shot now... but a long one.

Clark hasn't been on the radar screen for most to understand how incredible he would be against selected moron. Clark's still in his prime. Look for him to be in a very significant Democratic influence, regardless of what comes down during this election. The primary thing among voters (based on my Clark calling experience) is getting Dim Son out of office.

Clark has not only been smeared by the mainstream press, but has received little help from liberals(unlike Dean). I do believe that the ultimate goal on the right has always been to take Clark down. I predict that when Clark goes the media will turn on Kerry with a vengeance and push Dean again. No offense to Dean supporters-he is my second choice-polls be damned.

152. Smoke 'em if you got em soldiers!
This is just a break in the fighting. Tomorrow we move out double time to Wisconsin...

First order: Ignore Wolf Blizter and all the other media asswipes. They haven't got any more clues about Wes Clark's plans than anyone else does other than Gert.

Order # Two: Ignore any of the other campaign pissants who come in telling you to pack up and reform with some other troop. Ain't gonna happen, so just sit tight tonight.

Order # Three: Not ONE of you is low class or nasty enough to sink low and go off on anybody in here. The General is better than that--and so are we.

Order # Four: Suck it up. We CAN do this. You can drink all you want, you can chew your nails up to your elbows, but it won't do the General any good at this point. The only thing you can do is stay strong in your support and maybe send the campaign a note of support while we wait it out.

Order Five: Somebody hand me the Scotch, a match and the makings... :)

Pax to you all, We'll get thru this.

Laura
