1. He should stay in as long as he wants to and can
and that goes for all the candidates

3. agreed, and it goes way beyond who becomes Dem candidate:
what's really important is that while there's a race among the Democrats, the media HAS to pay attention to what they are saying. It's no coincidence that the most dirt on Bush, that is, truth that the media has FAILED or REFUSED to cover until now, has come out in the Democratic primary season.

This needs to remain a contest up until the convention. And each of the candidates does an excellent job, in different ways, of highlighting Bush's failings and weaknesses.

So Dean should stay in. So should Kerry and Clark and Edwards...

PS Hey YR :hi:

7. Yes, the media wants the race over to take the spotlight off
how crappy Bush and our economy is. If the Dem candidates keep campaigning, a different message than Bush's might get out. I hope they all stay in til the end. It would be best for us all.

Go Wes!
Go All Dems!

13. No they don't and they're not
The media primarily covers the horserace aspect of the race, and has spent little time since NH discussing what the candidates have said (or, more importantly what theire positions are).

The recent bad news about the Bush Administration came into the public eye largely because of Bush's own failings, not because of Dem candidate criticisms. As long as he has his military service, the CIA leak, the VP, the economic "recovery" and the successful "war on terrorism" to deal with, he'll still be in the news, wther Clark, Edwards and Dean are still campaigning or not.

15. Exactly
once the race is decided the big story aspect goes away and the media goes back to spouting free publicity for Bush.

Hey Ithacan, long time no see :hi:

2. I think they should all stay in
And make it more interesting. Why do we even have primaries and conventions if we are going to let the media coronate a nominee before we even get a chance to vote?

I say duke it out -- that's what democracy is for. Whoever still wants to fight ought to stay in. When the dust clears, we will all support the nominee, but maybe the platform will be stronger, with the contributions and influence of some real liberal candidates (Dean, Kucinich).

5. Yes he should.
Nobody should be telling any of the candidates when they should drop out.

6. Stay in
Dean should stay in, 'cause the minute he is out, Kerry will start doing weird stuff like thinking abt. backing the gay anti marriage amendment or whatever that is called. Also when Dean is no longer running, voters will have much lower turnout.

10. They can stay as long as they want.. but..
The DNC decided the primaries would be decided early as part of an overall election strat. That is exactly what is happening. The party wanted their candidate early and it is by declared design to get that candidate.

I posted a few weeks ago the people should lined up immediately behind kerry...because it was obvious then he was the DNC's guy.. and I got slammed.. Now it has to be the time. Beating bsuh is NOT a done deal at all. Every effort will be needed. No offense to anyone else.. but rove has 200 million sitting to go after kerry.. and polls showed them at a dead lock today (without rove spending a penny) and kerry is having to spend money to fend off 14%'er challenging candidates. That is detrimental to the party. Everyone should encourage their candidates to step aside and fall in line like was promised. The time has come.
