Voter Turnout LOW in Virginia
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 06:46 PM by ColdnGrey
I'm not sure who this helps. Local news said that not even one registar in hampton roads could predict even moderate turnout. Supposidly the same way across the state.

1. It sure seemed that way to me at 7 A.M. when I voted.
The polls had been open for an hour and I was voter #14 at a Richmond polling place.

3. I Tried to Ask in Nashville
But they were kinda clueless. Could only say there'd been a steady stream through the day.

16. Apparently your analysis is flawed
I advise that you look at the results and revise your judgemental conception of "sheeple". Thank you.

4. People getting bored with the Kerry coronation already?

Odd that the numbers would be low after record turnouts everywhere else.

12. Interesting...
Since they haven't had a primary since '88, how can they tell if turnout is low? Maybe it's the norm :hi:

8. The same here in Newport News
In the Kiln Kreek precinct of Newport News. I was voter #99 at about 9:30am. Well at that point DK had 1% in that precinct thanks to me.

9. That was my experience as well
I voted in Northern Virginia and everyone was talking about how low it was. I was the only one there. Oh well my fams 3 votes for Kucinich might make a difference after all :) I hate to say it but this low turnout is kind of typical of this area's lack of interest hopefully it gets better in the general election.

11. You have to pull teeth to learn about elections in Virginia
Seriously, unless you are a voter who pays a fair amount of attention to the news, you have no clue when a primary election is coming up. The state sends out no reminder notices, no announcements, no nothing. The state Democratic Party doesn't either. I've lived and voted in a variety of other states (California, Arizona, Wisconsin, New York) and Virginia is by far the least communicative with voters.

At least it means that the people who do vote are the people who are devoting some reasonable percentage of brain cells to following the primary races.

13. There is apathy. People feel that Kerry has already won.
I hope there isn't such low turnout here in Wisconsin.

17. Well, the primaries have become boring again.
Now that Kerry is the clear frontrunner, voters are apparently a lot less interested. The numbers will probably sink to 2000 levels before long.

18. The press has been telling everyone for two weeks now
who won is gonna win .. Why vote if you know your guy does not have a chance..

I would love it if all the results for all the primaries would be held until they are all over..

At least then we would know that everyone competed equally..
