Kind, Obey, Kohl endorse Kerry for president
MADISON, Wis. - U.S. Reps. Ron Kind and David Obey of Wisconsin and U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl endorsed front-runner John Kerry for the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, becoming the top Democrats in the state to back the Massachusetts senator.

The endorsements give Kerry the backing of half of Wisconsin's Democratic congressional delegation leading up to the state's Feb. 17 primary.

Obey, whose district covers much of northern Wisconsin, is the state's senior member in Congress. Kind represents the southwestern corner of the state.

Obey said it was time for Democrats to unite behind one candidate to take on President Bush.

1. I don't care for Kohl anymore.
He showed he had no spine with his IWR vote and votes for some of Bush's tax cuts. I'm a big fan of Feingold.

4. Kohl's a man who will endorse Kerry who is against
gay marriage, yet Kohl himself is gay.

He will sell out to anything to stay in the closet.

7. Kohl is a very conflicted man because of that.
Maybe he should just come out and admit it. Wisconsin would forgive him. Besides, anyone who doesn't suspect he is gay is not paying attention.

15. Kerry has said multiple times he is against gay marriage...
Most recently on NPR...he might even consider supporting a constitutional ban "depending on the language"

3. What if I'm not ready
to unite behind one candidate? Is the convention over and no one told me?

I have not chosen anyone yet, although Kucinich is looking better and better. Or maybe Edwards, or maybe Dean. Clark creeps me out, and Kerry, well, I'm ready for a non-inside-the-beltway type of guy. So I guess I have narrowed it down to 3. (I think I'm talking to myself)

8. I'm disappointed in Dave Obey
thought he would sit it out and wait for the convention. His personal views are a lot closer to Dennis than Kerry, at least IMHO.

9. Me too
Heard from someone in his camp this weekend that he wasn't going to endorse after Gep dropped out. Now three days later he does. Nice. I would have thought that someone like Obey who has been so openly opposed to the misadministration and has been bucking the spineless DLCers would have chosen someone outside the party.

I can understand Kind and Kohl, but not Obey. I am very disappointed.

13. Why would he choose someone 'outside the party?'
He's a Democrat, and his endorsing a fellow Democrat is no surprise.

10. They likely see the urgency in getting the Dems a candidate that
can generate the campaign funds needed to tackle the Bushistas.

12. Ah, the bandwagon fills...
If Obey, Kind, and Kohl thought Kerry was such a top pick, where were they in December? January?

Everyone loves a frontrunner.

But as Team Dean has seen, endorsements do not translate into loyalty.

Or votes, for that matter :hi:
