Kennedy Endorses Kerry; Calls Romney ‘Multiple Choice’
Kennedy Endorses Kerry; Calls Romney ‘Multiple Choice’
January 9th, 2007 @ 6:20 pm

Ted Kennedy is kicking some Republican ‘you know what’ today. First, Kennedy came out swinging with his speech on the ’surge’ earlier today at the National Press Club, when he “launched a pre-emptive strike Tuesday against President Bush’s anticipated plans to send more troops to Iraq.” Kennedy, scheduled to speak on healthcare at the National Press Club, did an about face and used the time to introduce “legislation to require congressional approval before force levels can be increased.”

Then, later on Hardball tonight, Ted Kennedy made it crystal clear where his allegiances lie in the ‘08 presidential race, and he went on take a firm swipe at Mitt Romney:

KENNEDY ENDORSES KERRY; CALLS ROMNEY ‘MULTIPLE CHOICE’

In addition to coming out strong against plans for any troop surge in Iraq, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) told Chris Matthews he will back John Kerry for president in 2008. When asked about former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, who is running for president from the Republican side of the aisle, Kennedy called Romney “multiple choice.”

Chris: Who will you endorse in 2008 for President for the Democratic party?

Kennedy: Well we have to find out who’s going to run. Isnt that the circumstances? My colleague and friend John Kerry’s taking a look at it, he’s going to make his mind up very soon.

Chris: Do you have a deadline for who will get your support?

Kennedy: I dont have a deadline.

Chris: Its been said that you have a deadline.

Kennedy: Is that said?

Chris: Its been said in the world out there that you want him to make a decision here.

Kennedy: I think that John understands that you have to make a decision earlier rather than later, and I expect he will.

Chris: Will you back him?

Kennedy: I will back him.

1. And the asses at the Boston Globe and Herald are shown to be liars yet AGAIN.
They have spent YEARS trying to put words in Kennedy's mouth to trip Kerry, but Kennedy always proves them to be the lying mediawhores they are.

17. You forgot their headline in December that Kennedy dropped his support of Kerry?
They lied in that headline and in their article.

19. All I remember is them saying Kennedy put him on a time table
I wasn't aware of them lying in their headline.

21. Kennedy drops support of Kerry was in their headline - they tailored the article
to make it sound as if Kennedy was angling to drop support, when that was NEVER case. Kennedy is one of the people closest to Kerry, along with Gary Hart, who supports another presidential run because they know he'll make a great president. He'd certainly be the anti-corruption, open government president this country needs at this point in history.

Coverup Democratic administrations end up costing us far too much in the long run. They are like cotton candy, pleasing visually and satisfying the current desire for it, but with the power to cause greater cavities than existed before.

Parry makes the case eloquently and ACCURATELY in his piece Democrats, the Truth Matters.

13. looks like Dem leaders are going to step on Kennedy's bill and pull the old 'nonbinding' resolution
trick out of their bag, just like they pulled when Kerry-Feingold withdrawal plan was being voted on a dn Dem leaders chose to promote a nonbinding plan for their own political cover and vote down the REAL withdrawal plan.

15. Unfortunately, Bush will have his surge pushed through, before any bill
can be implemented by Ted. We can always hope, though.

16. the "multiple choice" line is really funny in context
He was describing Romney's position on abortion: "he was pro-choice, he’s anti-choice, he’s multiple choice..."

20. Uncle Ted is THE MAN
In 2004, I had the wonderful opportunity to drive Ted around in Madison when he was campaigning for Kerry. He was a complete gentleman, funny as hell, down to Earth and willing to ask even people like me questions on various issues.

The guy lights up a room and can give a good old barn-storming speech full of humor and be serious as a heart attack at the same time.

Ted is one serious case of human goodness.
