Democrats should prepare for withdrawing troops in 2008...
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 10:34 AM by kentuck
At the beginning of 2008, an election year, the Republicans will no longer support his "escalation" in Iraq, expecially if they are up for re-election. They remember 2006.

The Democrats should oppose Bush on this escalation and the funding for this escalation. Just as Speaker Pelosi has stated, those are two different functions. Get an accounting for every dollar that is needed. The $100 billion dollars seems to have been pulled out of Bush's ass.

Furthermore, the Democratic candidates for president should declare now that if they are elected, the process of withdrawing the troops will begin immediately. If Bush wants to "win" this war, then he'd better do it before 2008. We will not sacrifice more lives in Bush's folly and deception. If the Republicans wish to support him, then so be it. They can answer to the electorate in 2008.
