Lieberman cashed in the last shred of his DEM soul today!
Sadly, "if" there were any vestiges of a DEM soul left in Lieberman, I think he cashed it in today with this outlandish statement:

CNN
1/5/07

Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Connecticut, said he disagreed with the Democratic leaders with whom he caucuses in the Senate.

"The president has the authority under the Constitution as commander-in-chief during wartime to take decisive action," he said during an appearance with McCain at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank. Any steps by Congress to stop Bush from sending more troops "would be an extreme action in a time of war," he said.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/05/us.iraq/index.html

Huge Kudo's to DEM leaders Harry and Nancy for articulating boldly that we DEMS morally and practically oppose ANY further troop increase. Loserman has been consumed by the BushCo war mongering Kool-Aid (he drank it all) and in name only does he caucus with the DEMS. I almost question if his limited value as a caucus partner is worth cow-towing to him anymore...yes, even for the majority in the Senate. I'd love for a moderate Repub Senator to switch parties so we could forever deem Lieberman 100% irrelevant.

33. Naw. Just showin' his true colors. Hope that Fireman's Union that backed him up...
...during the election against Lamont feel mighty proud of themselves! Those assholes just neutered the Democratic Party, maybe all because Hagglin' Holy Joe promised them some financial earmarks.

They're the true sellout piece of shits. Joe's just the ready and willing, Likud-lovin', war-luvin' Zionist patsy.

2. How is this any different than the shit he's been pulling for two years?
Shit, it'd be hypocritical of him not to do this after all his vitriolic tirades about the war.

Is now we have DEMS as the majority party on The Hill. I'd like to think that maybe...just maybe this former DEM V.P. candidate (I say with disgust) would have a remnant of allegiance to his former party. NOT! He proved that unequivocally by dramatically dissing our new DEM leaders today. Yep, same old shit. I'll expect no more from him.

Except maybe that he will join John McCain as his V.P. candidate in 08. :grr:

13. His entire stance on the war has always been...
...that he doesn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks, and that he'll support it regardless of how fucked up it is. For him to change his mind now would be a 180 degree shift from everything he said during his campaign.

5. The day Gore chose him, I thought WTF?
The whiny little POS has never been Presidential material, and I have no doubt he cost Gore votes. Besides being the Senator of the Connecticut Insurance Lobby, he appears to harbor profound ill-will toward the people of Iraq and Iran. He's a neo-Con among neo-Cons and it's a damn shame the Dems need him in their corner right now because he deserves to have his sorry ass booted the rest of the way out of the party.

While he was trashing his former party.

I'd not be surprised in the least if he joined a McCain ticket.

Really, you'd think there'd be more interest in, and activism around the idea of flipping a GOP senator.

I don't get it. We're supposed to let the Liebster play power broker for the next six years?

21. Just a couple more DEM senators....
Would do the trick.

Gawd, if there was anything we could do to pull the plug on Loserman's -by default only- role as power broker, we should do it.

He deserves not the power.
Or the role.
Or the smug look on his face.

The BushCo ship will eventually sink under the huge weight of shame and lies that led us into this illegal war of aggression. Loserman will sink with it.

24. Well, maybe. But why aren't we more proactive....
>>>The BushCo ship will eventually sink under the huge weight of shame and lies that led us into this illegal war of aggression. Loserman will sink with it.>>>

... about neutralizing Liebensraum? We don't have to wait for 2008 necessarily. If Collins, Snow, Specter, Hagel,... there may be one or two others... if just *one* were to amble off the reservation that would effectively neuter Lieberama as power broker.

27. Lieberman still doesn't get it's not about decisive military action.
Edited on Fri Jan-05-07 09:29 PM by Clarkie1
It's not a military problem, and can't be solved that way. His mental block on this is mind-boggling.

When the President puts the country in extreme danger, it necessitates the people, through the congress, taking extreme action to stop the abuse of power which is taking place against the will of the people.
