1. Even after Jan 1, website hits remain well above all other (potential) candidates.
Once Obama and Hillary decalre, their numbers would rise I'd assume.

Three of the others haven't even declared, and the Kooch's people are all making vegan gazpacho or something.

3. Any major candidate will get that bump...
In traffic of their website. Obama, Hillary, Kerry. I bet you all of their websites will do the same thing when and if they announce. It's obvious why Edwards traffic raised, it's because people were interested in hearing about his campaign. Curiousity is often the case in the beginning of any campaign, especially with a major candidate for the WH.

5. I went to the Edwards site - because he declared
and I wanted to read the positions he had - so I would not be as likely to say something untrue inadvertently.

i assume I was not alone in wanting to see what he was had up. To my knowledge none of the others were doing anything. Obama is supposedly in Hawaii on vacation, the Clintons (per a post on Ford) were in the Caribbean. I have no idea where Kerry was - but he was likely on vacation as well.

6. No surprise here
If Hillary officially jumps into the race, her website will have serious traffic from Dems and ...ahem GOpers.

8. Edwards has the advantage of not being in Congress
Those candidates that are current members of Congress will be saddled with procedural votes, and votes that they will have to explain and that will take time away from the campaign.
