15. Optical scan in Oklahoma
If it makes anyone feel more comfort, all of Oklahoma uses optical scan ( as required by an election reform several years ago). Notice the the difference is 1216, the number as first reported.

17. Hey Nancy
I have heard of this before. Could you tell me - in a nutshell - what Optical Scan is? Congrats on the win there, btw!

19. The ballot looks like this
Wesley Clark ------ -----
Howard Dean ------ -----

then you fill in with a black maker to make the line complete
Then you slip the ballot in a machine that sucks it in and it counts it right there. You can also read the number on the machine which tells you what number voter you were on that machine.

22. Interesting
So, if if you actually pass the ballot in the machine, there is an undisputed paper trail, right? I have read that Oklahoma has a great system that is for every election in every precinct in the state. I didn't know about the Optical Scan. That sounds pretty good, actually. Are you pleased with how it works? Thanks for the info, Nancy!

26. Yes there is a paper ballot
that can be checked if necessary. I've never heard any complaints about it. Yes, Oklahoma passed an election reform bill and require all polling places to have these.
