Poll question: If the gallows interview with Saddam conducted by Bob Woodward...
...described by fellow DUer, Don Davis (see link below, excellent satire), had actually taken place, and further if, due to some kind of bureaucratic mix up the hangman showed up and hauled Woodward off to be hanged instead of Saddam, this mistake could best be described as:

2. How 'bout "Suspiciously funny"...

3. I admit to having watched Hussein's execution.
The whole thing was a hideous macabre farce. The Sadr brigade executed Saddam. It seems that the entire Iraqi government is infiltrated to the extent that a situation as high security as this execution was entirely compromised. A cell phone camera was smuggled in. They were taunting him as they killed him. The audio-visual effect was identical to the Zarqawi era beheadings. One official was trying to restore order, and having no success. The only dignified person in the entire scene was old Saddam Hussein himself. This was justice? Our troops are dying there for what reason?

4. Not proud to admit it...
...but I viewed that video also -- an ugly spectacle that argues strongly for elimination of capital punishment.

7. It was a US sponsored lynching
The entire trial was a farce. There is no democratic Iraq, and Saddam Hussein was a prisoner of the US, not Iraq. He should have been handed out to a tribunal at The Hague.

The Bush administration is as low in the gutter as the people they are fighting.

8. Bush also belongs in front of a tribunal at the Hague...

...and has probably been responsible for the deaths of more innocent Iraqi civilians than Saddam ever was.

5. What we have become in the U.S.
I know many of DU'ers, as I, were physically ill after viewing pictures of the lynching. But the fact is, many of our feloow citizens are whooping it up as they watch this craziness.
I venture to say that many people in our own country would condone this type of execution - even bring back the public witnessing in the town square!
I really wonder if the great experiment is indeed over. Like the krazy king, we have become the American barbarians.

6. There certainly is a subset...
...of the U.S. population that would relish witnessing death row executions where the condemned are served up to lions in a public coliseum, but I think (hope) they represent an ignorant minority.
