Hey Oil Companies - Instead Of Jacking The Prices Of Gas Up For The Holidays.....
why don't you do something nice and humanitarian as a way of saying 'Thanks' to all us people that day in and day out fill up our gas tanks with your inflated gas prices.

Why don't you drop the cost of gas for the holiday - Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and charge us only $1.00 or $1.50/gallon. One day only. This would go a long way in goodwill to you guys the rest of the year. Don't you have any smart 'Marketing' personnel that could think any other way other than continually raising prices and creating excuses for the raise in price?

I just filled up with gas and it is apparent that the gas price is up considerably for the holiday. Pisses me off that they continue to take advantage of us.

1. That would really screw over the small local gas station owner.
At that price he couldn't pay his salaries and rent unless the refineries were giving the gas away for free.

Don't give the oil companies an excuse.

4. I don't think there is as much vertical integration today as you think....
It's been many years since most stations were owned by the oil companies.

3. Gas stations dont make much from selling gas.
Edited on Sun Dec-24-06 04:18 PM by sheeptramp
As gas prices rise, the price sellers get per gallon remains the same.
Gas stations make more money by selling snacks and beverages and the like.
When the gas price goes higher, gas-buyers have less money for snacks. Station owners make less.

5. Taxes eat up almost 1 dollar per gallon anyway
between state and federal b8llshit. Maybe Chevron could give up some of that record breaking 5 billion dollar profit they realized this last quarter; that would help.

6. How about a New Years resolution of curbing our glutonous consumption.
Let's not put all of this at the feet of the oil companies. They are cashing in big time on our disgusting habits.

7. In that case, you should want the price at the pump to go UP.
It sometimes seems to me that we Democrats can't decide whether we want higher gasoline prices, so that people burn less gasoline, or lower gasoline prices, so that people don't have to pay so much. I think I've heard both from the same mouth in one evening, though separated by a few beers.

You can't have both. There is a direct connection between cost and usage.

8. Yep.
Al Gore proposed $5 per gallon to curb consumption.

Or we could curb consumption voluntarily and bring prices down with lower demand -- in which case, we'd have both.

9. Gas price
Gas prices at my local station have remained the same since Dec 2. Some other stations have fluctuated a couple of cents, but remained the same overall.
