One issue voters / One Issue Opposers.
Any real difference here? I notice lots of people who would or wouldn't vote for a candidate based on one issue, do you feel that there are issues which would preclude you from voting for someone. Is that inclination for this primary season/GE only.

IE the IWR being voted on by a usually liberal politician or GLBT Marriage being supported by a usually conservative politician.

Personally I feel that there are very few issues that would make me not vote for someone if the rest of their platform coincided with mine, over someone who coincides with one main issue but fails on the rest.

1. no issue voters?
In a vacuum, voting or opposing on one issue alone is meritless. However, not all issues are equally important, and not everyone weighs them identically.

Keep that in mind before you write off those same people who you expect to function as allies later on.

3. Not writing anyone off, just wondering what other people thought.
Point taken, not all issues are equally important to all people. The issues I put in my post were just as an example but not indicative that any issues should be forced on anyone as a main issue, if it isn't in the first place.

2. I'd Vote For The Democratic Nominee
but stay home if he became a "Shrub Light."

The anti-equal rights admendment will keep me home. DN vote for it, I be out-a-here.

4. I have a litmus test, but there is a make-up exam
Support for the Iraq war was a huge error in judgement and so profoundly antithetical to my beliefs that anybody who continues to stand by their support of it will absolutely not receive my vote -- no matter where they may be on the ticket.

However, I'll bend for a candidate who shows some respect for the views of people like me. Sharing the ticket with a candidate who was opposed to the war would be one way to do this. If the presidential nominee and the veepee nominee both voted for the IWR, I cannot, in good concience, vote for the ticket.
