Time mag's watered down netroots / activism message
Edited on Sun Dec-17-06 05:23 PM by lwcon
The Sideshow blog's preferred choice for Time's Person of the Year, instead of y'all, would be Atrios — to represent the political sea change that netroots helped bring about this year.

Not a bad idea, though I'm a Digby man, myself.

As noted by Blue Gal in comments at C&L, the choice of "You" / Web 2.0 might well have been a "centrist" watering down of the reality that Sideshow's Avedon Carol highlights.

Another way to celebrate the new American spirit of independence would have been to cite four brave souls who stood up to the Bush administration in person:
Wouldn't it be great to see those four heroes' smiling faces on the cover?

Actually, it should be five. Cindy Sheehan started it all the year before, and she should be there to preside over the new recruits.

What a statement that cover would make about a country founded on revolution and democracy — you'd almost get the idea that free speech was patriotic.

Look, mylar's nice and all. But even better is brass.

1. You're right, but Time Magazine is irrelevant. Who cares who it is?
American Idol is more important than Time's Person of the Year.

Just my 2 cents.

3. Maybe it's the same organizations that buy Ann Coulter books so
that she gets on best seller lists.

THEY are in the process of shutting us up. They will destroy the internet in one way or another.
