Brownback offers to lift hold if judge avoids gay marriage cases
Edited on Sun Dec-17-06 08:34 AM by BR_Parkway
Nothing like making sure the judge will be your sort of activist prior to confirmation, huh?

Friday, December 15, 2006

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), a potential presidential candidate, said last week he would lift his hold on a federal judicial nominee if she agrees to step aside from any case dealing with same-sex unions. Brownback, a Republican raising money for a possible White House bid, has stalled the confirmation of Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Janet Neff to the federal bench because she once attended a lesbian commitment ceremony. Neff has said she attended the ceremony as a friend of one of the two women, a longtime neighbor. She insisted in an Oct. 12 letter to Brownback that the ceremony had no legal effect and would not affect her ability to act fairly as a federal judge. Brownback, a prominent gay marriage opponent, says he is concerned the incident colors her legal view on the constitutionality of allowing same-sex marriages. Neff has declined any public comment about her nomination.

This human turd is perfect for the Ticket. Maybe we should all switch parties so we can vote for him in the primaries then vote for whoever is against him should he win the Repug vote? lol

8. And how many more days
will he be able to wield his twisted power stick? Payback is a bitch. Bye bye Committee control, bye bye unfettered arbitrary interference in reasonable process. Hello Nuclear Option--I bet you'll be sorry for threatening that one!

Kinda funny, considering the lightweight * sent up to capitol hill as a supreme court nominee. What was her name again?

10. The judge can promise whatever she wants
once she is on the bench, there is nothing this bigot can do about it.

Brownback is running for President of Homophobes.

I hate Christians and Christianity because of people like Brownback!

11. This is two great tastes that taste great together.
We keep one of Chucklenuts' extremist judges off the bench, and it's a homophobic Republican doing the work for us. Plus, he makes himself look dumber and more intolerant every day he drags this thing along.

This is like having your cake and eating it, too.

14. I'm confused why isn't the GOP using the nucler option?
I guess it's only unfair when Democrats block a nominee.
