So much for the EXPERIENCE factor for 08
Edited on Sat Dec-16-06 09:30 AM by bigdarryl
Evan Bahy is reported to have decided not to run for Presidency. talk about qualified this guy is more positioned to run than any other Senator thinking of running including Clinton. I bring this up because some DU'ers and the media keep talking about Obama has no experience for the Presidency.Well this is an example with Bayh not running that it isn't the experience that counts its who the public like.Bahy was Governor for eight years and has been in the Senate for eight years. Some DU'ers said he was boring when he announced he was thinking of running.

2. It could be Bayh has looked at the mess we're in
and has decided that he doesn't want to tackle it, for whatever reasons--and whoever is chosen to clean up after Bushco does have a formidable task on their hands, that's for sure.

9. Frankly, I really wonder why any Dem would want to run!
For that matter, why would any halfway intelligent pube want to run? Maybe that should be Shrub's punishment, is make him clean up his own mess before he can go back to his little playground in Crawford...but, then again maybe not

3. It's not the experience, bigdarryl. It's that the DLC has already
picked the egg its putting in its one basket... and there's no cash for Bayh as a result.

4. Thats my point it's all about the MONEY and who has it.....
Bahy looked at the possibility that he couldn't raise all that Corporate money these candidates have to raise. the founding fathers must be spinning in there graves the Presidency isn't supposed to be who has the most money to raise.

7. Um... you really don't know?
I'm not a huge fan of the DLC, but my point certainly wasn't putting them down - merely pointing out that they've picked their horse and there's no money for anyone else of the DLC persuasion.

6. Meh -- I'm not shedding any tears over this DLC drone
The fewer of them in the race, the better.

10. Obama's lack of experience is a problem
What kind of absurd logic are you using to say that because Bahy is experienced and isn't running, that somehow Barack being inexperienced means he should run?

Have you never heard the common phrase "necessary but not sufficient"?

Obama has no business running for President except as vanity, and even then it isn't in his best interests either. He'll look alot better opting-out 'because I don't have the experience' so that when he does run years from now he'll be looked at as someone having earlier put the country's interests before his own, to have run when he is ready.

He has plenty of time to be a Senator, maybe Secretary of something and/or a Governor before he throws his hat into the big game. When he does I'll be there to support him.

11. I can't see where Obama has less experience than Edwards.
In fact, he's got more of certain types of relevant experience. More time serving in elective office, more times running for office successfully, more international experience, and demonstrably better judgement on national security and foreign policy matters.

I don't see many people on here arguing that Edward's lack of experience is a problem. I don't know why there should be such a double standard for Obama.
