Hillary Taboo
Here's a game I tried to get one of my Hillary-hating friends to play once (he didn't): ask a conservative friend to explain his beef with Hillary Clinton without using the word "bitch", "shrew", "witch", "cunt", "harpy", "whore" or any other gender-specific terms. If you want to really make him (speaking as a guy, it will always be one) scratch his head, put a moratorium on tired Vince Foster allegations, too. Have fun.

1. Your friends unfortunately have been easily swayed by the neo-con
media propaganda machine. With the help of the press, Rove and his lying cronies vilified Ms. Clinton. To this day, those lies stuck. If your friends could put aside their brainwashing, and look at the facts of her work in Congress, as a first lady, as an attorney, and as a mother, they would find that she is actually an exceptional woman.

Ask your friends, next time, if they have minds of their own (or a mind of their own between the lot of them.)

2. It's mostly this one guy
who could kick my ass. But he's completely stumped when I ask him what's wrong with her. I personally think she's a good senator et al., but that she's far too divisive to be a viable presidential candidate (but that's probably a whole 'nother thread). You'll have to excuse me; I just activated my account last night, and I'm greener than Hal Jordan (bad nerd pun).

3. welcome to DU
I think the reason Hillary is so divisive is because of that propaganda machine. There actually was a vast-right-wing conspiracy. The media, at the direction of their bosses the neo-cons, hounded her and Bill, criticizing and ridiculing every step they took. The Fox-"news" watchers believed every lie they were fed. And, likely, your friend could not come up with why he hates her--other than he is part of the lemmings who nod in unison when told to by Rove and Fox.

4. Here's my beef with Hillary and I'm not a guy
Hillary set back single payer health insurance by years. Just imagine if the charge to change health insurance had been given instead to someone like Dr Koop. Instead Bill Clinton gave it to a lawyer. And it was even worse that the lawyer in charge of changing health insurance was his wife. Her major consultants were health care economists. Basically there weas no input from health care professionals such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists i.e. the people who actually deliver health care. And of course, no one got input from patients.

Would you want a health insurance system designed by lawyers? Or by MBA? Or accountants? Well that's what we have and it stinks.

Thanks Hill and Bill.

7. that 93 Health setback was Bill - not Hill - trying for "what could pass" - I
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 03:40 PM by papau
was getting reports on the Clinton Health thinking well before the task force idea was even thought up - and folks were congratulating themselves for shutting down Hill's single payer national health approach before it even got legs. We (I was part of the Insurance Industry at the time) promised support - like we did in 73 with Nixon - if he went with universal coverage that still allowed us making our excellent profits(no one in insurance want to convert to the low profits that came from using our staff as claim processors as was done - is done - with Medicare). Later I found out that "we" had already commissioned the Harry and Louise commercials - either just before or just as we made that promise - and had no intention of letting the Federal Government dictate a national health approach.

The same situation exists today - which is why a Medicare for children piece meal approach is going to be needed.

5. You came to the right place if you like Hillary-hating games
You'll find more anti-Hillary gossip, outright hatred, gross exagerrations, innuendo, propaganda, and outright lies about her right here on this forum than you will in most conservative circles.

12. No, on this forum you find mostly
dismay over Hillary's ACTIONS & WORDS which are too much like standard DLC material. Blowin' in the Wind to see which way it is blowing, triangulation, sounding much too much like B**h and Lieberman on Iraq (probably 'cause she calculated that she needed to be as tough on national security as a male). BTW Bill clinton was trashed by the RWers worse than anything Hillary has received, and he is mostly still strongly supported here. He only comes in for (legitimate) criticism over some policies thought to be not liberal enough.

13. Not to mention shilling on her behalf
There's also a very vocal contingency of Hillaristas on here, trying to drum up "support" for her by bullying others and making condescending remarks.
