So if Kerry can only raise 4.5 mil while being the front runner
and the person everyone is writing off can raise 4 mil, what does that say about the race?

2. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
Like I wonder why General Clark can't raise more.

We all know that Kerry has a boatload of lobbyists lining up to give him checks.

Howard Dean has some stubborn supporters, I admire that.

4. Maybe it says that money does not equal votes....
Isn't that a kick in the ass. I guess money doesn't buy everything now does it? The people are speaking.

21. Republicans will raise $250MM this year......what does that mean?
They are the wealthiest Party in terms of cash, but bankrupt in terms of principles and integrity. I'll take my chances with the people understanding the difference.

29. Positive big media is worth more than a few million
Media chiefs back Kerry campaign

Owen Gibson
Tuesday February 10, 2004

Fresh from his latest win in Maine, the favourite to challenge George Bush for the US presidency has secured the financial support of some of the most powerful media moguls in the world.

As John Kerry's campaign to secure the Democrat nomination - and with it a crack at the White House - continues to gather pace, it has emerged that it is being bankrolled by key executives from News Corporation, MTV-owner Viacom and Sony.
...
Others who have pledged to raise more than $50,000 include the Viacom chief executive, Sumner Redstone, and Sony chairman Howard Stringer, whose name has recently been linked with the vacant chairmanships at ITV and the BBC.
...
US political commentators have speculated that Mr Kerry has enjoyed the support of the media community in an effort to head off the challenge of Howard Dean, who has fallen back in the race despite being the frontrunner before the primaries began. Mr Dean made statements last year about wanting to break up media conglomerates.

7. Kerry has been very open about hating to deal with any fundraising

activity. Guess he is less adept at "brilliant ploys."

12. Why give money to Kerry?
Does anyone really want to give Kerry $100 to help pay back the interest on millions he's already loaned his campaign?

26. Dean doesn't WANT or NEED big money. Dean wants
1 million people to write him a $100 check.

That's what it's gonna take to start moving BIG MONEY out of Washington, DC.

28. waking reality?????
This thing isn't even close to being over. Kerry can fall just as fast as he rose. Some strange twist of fate could occurr and Sharpton could get the nomination. All it would take is the media to plant the seeds and the public will follow. The Bush machine is reving up it's engines this week and ALL will be pounded. It aint over till the fat lady sings and she hasn't even arrived yet.

Don't forget 7.2 million of the 31 spent by Dean last year is in Trippi's front pocket. But, hey who wouldn't want a different colored Dean shirt for every event?

This is when I'll give him $$-

16. it says money doesn't equal or buy votes
that it takes a lot more to get votes than money. and kerry spent less than dean in iowa, and spent less than dean, clark and lieberman in new hampshire. i'm sure money helps in some way, but much has to do with more than just money.
