Frankly, I don't think Dodd has a chance.

Mine looks more like:

Clark

Note: I'd add Gore, but he keeps insisting there's no way he's running..

4. Dodd has been a strong Democrat for many years, unlike
Edited on Fri Dec-01-06 10:36 AM by madinmaryland
his colleague from Connecticut. While not known outside of New England he is principaled and would make a good president. He is not the charismatic type though and probably will not gain much traction outside the NE and CT.

Don't try and classify him as a chimp or chimplike.

5. I'm sure this will get a great response from people, especially since announcing his run for
president will likely be the first time anyone heard about him.

seriously, this is just more evidence that the Senate is made up of 10 working members and 90 presidential aspirants.

at least Kerry did the BCCI stuff; hell, I even learned about that in high school.

LOL

He's Captain Vanilla. His only hope is that Kerry doesn't run, and he can sneak in and steal the NH primary.

6. Just what we need, another old white male from the Northeast with no charisma
While I prefer Dodd over Lieberman, Dodd has no constituency outside of CT. He hasn't been challenged in an election in CT for years and will find the competitiveness of a wide open Prez primary daunting.

9. Some more good non-senators from flippable red states would be nice.
I like Dodd though.

13. Edwards-Warner
Two swing states, that we want to move from the red column. Neither is currently a Senator. Both would have high appeal to independents.

It worked in 1992, it can work again.

16. Edwards wouldn't have won a re-election bid for Senate in
NC, admittedly, according to polls.

How do you expect him to flip NC?

17. times have changed
I'd be happy if an Edwards/Warner ticket were able to win some combination of Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Florida and Louisiana. Any two of those would be just fine.

15. Supposing it's Obama (or heaven fobid...Hill) vs. McCain in '08, we will see the first Sen since
JFK to be elected POTUS.
