Could Kerry come ahead of Gephardt in Iowa
I've been hearing about polls recently that show Kerry closer to Gephardt than before. Is it possible that he could beat Gephardt for second?

1. It seems like the Kerry campaign sees promise in Iowa
because they are increasing ad spending there.

Kerry Boosts Ad Spending in Iowa, N.H.

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) is boosting his television ad spending in Iowa and New Hampshire with two new campaign commercials starting Monday, including one featuring former New Hampshire Gov. Jeanne Shaheen.

State polls show Kerry is battling for the lead with former Vermont Gov. Dean and Rep. Dick Gephardt (news - web sites) in Iowa, where caucuses will take place Jan. 19, and trails Dean by double-digit percentages in New Hampshire, which holds its first-in-the-nation primary Jan. 27.

The Massachusetts senator is spending 50 percent more next week than he typically has been spending in each state.

In Iowa, Kerry bought $320,000 worth of airtime to broadcast a new 30-second ad on health care. It's a heavy buy, with TV industry estimates showing that the average viewer in Iowa will see the commercial eight or nine times over the course of its run.

2. If Kerry does well (which indicators have shown) in Iowa, it's Katie bar
the door time. His campaign will take on wings from there.

3. If Kerry wins Iowa or comes in second
it would be HUGE.

4. Yes it would
It's more likely that he'll come in second than actually win, and that would take out Gephardt instantly. Unfortunately it would hurt Clark, who would end up coming in second in NH because of a post-Iowa bounce for Kerry.

11. Your post...
Mot78: Really great flash graphic there. Just excellent. The Democratic Party ought to hire you to produce some ads for the 04 campaign.

6. Your Rollover Ad.
I don't know whether Kerry can beat Gephardt, but I do know a nice piece of reasoning and presentation, so congratulations on your roll-over ad about the Kosovo War.

Hypocrisy is the very center of the Conservative style, and you capture and illustrate that fact very aptly.

8. If Gephardt can't do well in Iowa
which is right next to his home state of Missouri, then his campaign will be effectively over.
