The president of Young Democrats at my school is an idiot.
I've overheard numerous disgusting reflections from him over the past few months.

-In October, he was talking about how great a governor Arnold Schwarzenegger would be.

-A few weeks ago he said that Bush was anti-Israeli (this dude's Jewish like me) because Bush supported a two-state solution. I felt like punching him in the face. Bush is the most pro-Israeli president since Richard Nixon, no doubt about it. But that's the PROBLEM! He isn't a convincing third party that can negotiate peace! All he's doing is sucking up to Ariel Sharon, and no good will come out of it unless he, as Dean suggested, takes a more evenhanded approach.

-Today he said that although he supported Gore in '00, he doesn't think Al Gore would have been as good a wartime president as Bush. I couldn't believe my ears, especially since in '00 I hated Gore/Lieberman (b/c of NAFTA) while he was 100% for them.

I swear this is true. Is this the future of the Democratic Party?

10. well he's a really nice guy, but he's naive
he never reads behind the lines. Moreover he's not very acute on political history.

And I'm not in Young Democrats, never were. Hell if I were, I might not have gotten into my college of choice.

Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 04:50 PM by PROGRESSIVE1
President of our chapter said the following:

October 2002:
"Bush has such an amazing group of people around him, they are just SO amazing"
"Bush is protecting us, they really aren't that bad" :puke:

"Bush is not using the Iraq War for political gain"

March 2003:
"I don't want to go to war in Iraq but we should not be
critisizing the President, after 9/11, we should all cooperate"

September 2003:

"Stop calling him the Gropenator, after all, the Republicans NEVER
called us names" :puke:

January 2004:
"Howard Dean shouldn't be so anti-Bush" :wtf:

7. I must praise you
Thank you for acknowledging that even handedness is the only way to solve the Palestinian/Israeli crisis. I wish there were more who thought the way you do.

9. Thanks. I get grilled a lot for it.
I don't see how peace can be achieved without a credible third party. Logic, you know. But many people I know just don't get it.

11. Are you SURE this idiot's in the right party...
Or just in the right-WING party? :wtf:

How in the world did he get to be your Y.D. chapter president??? He sounds well to the right of "Joementum", to me! I guess he thinks he's a "Zell Miller Democrat" (an oxymoron first uttered BY an "oxymoron"!). :eyes:

Maybe he needs to be impeached by others in your club who happen to be "authentic" Democrats--ours IS the party of the "big tent", but Neo-Cons tend to fall well outside of that tent, by ANY stretch of the imagination!

Go get him! :kick:

B-)

12. no that's the thing. the Jewish Democrats at my school
all were extremely pro-Gore, but they love Bush's war (because of the Israeli stance). Therefore they say Bush was great for handling 9/11 despite LIHOP etc etc.

Now theyre shifting back to the Dem Party for election time, but it seems so partisan yet halfhearted.
