Help, Please - "Kerry Stories"
Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 03:54 PM by smjoyner
Can anyone help me counter this "article" from a friend about John Kerry....(sorry, I couldn't find a link)

February 5, 2004 -- BOSTON

ONE of the surest ways to get the phones ringing on any Massachusetts talk-radio show is to ask people to call in and tell their John Kerry stories. The phone lines are soon filled, and most of the stories have a common theme: our junior senator pulling rank on one of his constituents, breaking in line, demanding to pay less (or nothing) or ducking out before the bill arrives.

<snip>

The caller, Jay, said he began heckling Kerry and his wife as they attempted to enter the theater. Finally, he said, the senator turned to him and asked him the eternal question.

"Do you know who I am?"

"Yeah," said Jay. "You're a gold-digger."

John Kerry. First he looks at the purse.

Howie Carr, a Boston Herald columnist and syndicated talk-radio host, has been covering John Kerry for 25 years.

I don't know who Howie Carr is and I couldn't find where this was published. I checked the Boston Herald and it wasn't there. The few paragraphs of his I saw at the Boston Herald made it pretty clear to me what this guy's really like - a bit to the right of Rush and less well spoken! Does anyone out there, maybe in Boston, have anything to say about this?

But I suppose if the link had been included, it would have gotten the thread locked.

3. yes
I've met John Kerry on more than one occasion and he certainly is nothing like he is painted here. And since when is it wrong for the wealthy to enjoy the trappings of wealth. It's too bad more of the wealthy don't do as much good for the underprivileged as John Kerry does.

Howie Carr is now and always has been a comlete hack. Not as bad as his former colleague Don Feder (who now writes for the same rag Ann Coulter writes for) but still pretty bad.

5. This is making the rounds through email
Howie Carr is a Rush-wannabe. I wouldn't much stock in anything he says.

And you might want to cut some of that article out - for copyright rules.

6. Howie Carr is a mean spirited nasty
obnoxious individual. I would not even use the word person. He is a lier and malcontent,. He hates all democrats and even some republicans. Nothing coming from his mouth is ever true. He tries to tear down people by belittling them. He makes fun of people for their appearance. Calls them buckteeth, fat bald guys. He has short mans disease. envious of everyone because of his height.

7. Howie Carr sucks
He is a conservative Boston talk radio host. He's like a mini-Rush. In his last Herald column, he called Kerry a "gigolo." To be honest, I think Howie is either very jealous of Kerry or has a hard-on for him. He just can't get over Kerry's wife. It's very strange.

8. Howie Carr is Boston's local Limbaugh-wannabe...
... and the Herald is owned by Murdoch.

I'll tell you what I said when this was first posted here - this article is basically a hash of every little nitpick, misrepresentation, slander, and piece of BS that has been hurled at Kerry during his tenure here in Massachusetts. Howie says whatever he wants, and he doesn't let a little thing like journalism get in his way. Sources? Don't need them. Innuendo? Bring it on!

You wanna know what this is? Bringing the old talking points to a national audience, so the rank-and-file GOP have a ready list of why they hate Kerry. It was bound to happen - don't sweat it too much.

11. I notice ol' Howie's never written anything
about the Shrub using his money and family power to cut in line into the Champagne unit of the Texas Air National Guard to stay out of combat in Vietnam...I guess it's OK when rich Republicans do it.

This reminds me of the stories that one hack in Arkansas, the one that coined the term "Slick Willy" kept promulgating about Clinton. A little exaggeration, a little hearsay, a little out-of-context, and a whole lot of bullshit.
