N.C. Primary Delayed Until July 20
Democrats Announce Plans To Hold County Caucuses

RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina's primary election will be held July 20, the state Elections Board decided Monday, because federal judges haven't finished reviewing proposed new districts for General Assembly seats.

Scott Falmlen, executive director of the state Democratic Party, said the delay will also force state Democrats to change how they select their preference for president. The party will abandon the primary system in favor of county caucuses on April 19.

"Clearly, the county caucuses are radically different than what Democrats are used to," Falmlen said.

1. wow, media can't even get the basics right

the date for the "caucuses" will be april 17, not the 19th.
and this is not an iowa style caucus. while i hate the term, straw poll comes does a better job of explaining how this will work.
the supremely good thing about this is that it will ONLY be open to registered democrats. no indies or repubs allowed.
