The (Nashville) Tennessean endorses Kerry
An excellent endorsement, and good reasoning on why they didn't pick Edwards or Clark.

"...The Democratic presidential candidate who is best prepared to face those challenges is Sen. John Kerry. The Tennessean endorses Kerry in Tuesday's Democratic primary in Tennessee.

"...the issue in the campaign should not be who is the most appealing candidate, or the most energetic, or the most organized, or even the nicest. While the issue for some Democrats might be who is the best candidate to challenge President George Bush, the choice ultimately should come down to who is the candidate best prepared to assume the awesome duties of the White House. In that context, the best candidate is Kerry....."

"....in these political times, the accusation of being ponderous should be taken as a compliment. The nation needs more leaders who are thoughtful, fulsome in their approaches to issues, and who understand the complexities surrounding current events.

A war hero, a deliberate thinker, an experienced leader, a person fully capable to handle the vexing challenges this nation faces. John Kerry has earned the right to be the Democratic presidential nominee."

Elect a war hero, but not John Kerry

To the Editor:

This November I will vote for a war hero. John Kerry's service in Vietnam is commendable. It took great courage and heroism to turn his boat around and pick up the special services officer who had gone overboard, saving his life.

But the war hero I will vote for is the one who stood in the smoldering ruins of the World Trade Center towers and said to the American people, ''I hear you, the whole world hears you, and soon the evil doers will hear from us!'' My vote will go to a war hero who in face of stunning tragedy brought America together with strength and resolute determination that we would not bow to terrorism nor wait idly by for mad men to gather insidious weapons to attack innocents. (:puke:)

I will vote for the president who led the war that destroyed the al-Qaida terrorist training camps and rid the world of the barbaric Taliban and freed the women of Afghanistan. I will vote for the commander in chief who led the war to enforce international law and U.N. resolutions, ending a 30-year terrorist reign of murder, rape and torture.

I will vote for a man whose courage and bold leadership have given 30 million people human rights for the first time and a chance for liberty. I will vote for the man whose bold and courageous stand has sent a powerful message to terrorists and tyrants everywhere, saving hundreds of thousands if not millions of innocent lives that appeasement would have left at grave risk. I will vote for George W. Bush for his courage and leadership as commander in chief.

3. So, what war hero stood in the smoldering ruins of the WTC?
Chretien?

I'd like to know. Come on, tell me. Who was the war hero?

Bush???? When was he at war? Where's the documentation?

Somebody has to send a response to this LOTE, pointing out that Bush never fought in a war, and in fact was a deserter.

10. Sorry, meant Chirac
Wasn't Chirac the first world leader to visit the smoldering ruins?

(Even if Bush was the first, that doesn't make him a "leader").

Was Chirac ever involved in a war?
