Kucinich Earns Second Strong Finish In A Row

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 8, 2004

Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich has followed up his third place finish in Washington state with another strong showing in the Maine caucuses. For the second election in a row, and now on both coasts, he has placed ahead of John Edwards, Wesley Clark and Al Sharpton. Unofficial returns have Congressman Kucinich at 15% in Maine. Returns from the city of Portland show him taking 20% of the vote there.

Dennis Kucinich has broken into double-digits for the first time this primary season. He has done so, amazingly, during a virtual blackout of his campaign by the national media. The strength of the Kucinich campaign has begun to show itself, and will continue to show itself, all the way to the convention.

For Congressman Kucinich's Schedule: http://www.kucinich.us/schedule.htm.

I've heard this over and over like it is too much to vote for someone who has an agenda that is one they like. Too much of a good thing? Isn't this what we need in this time of crisis? A candidate that is different than Bush? Why elect a WTO guy? ;(

21. It'll never happen
He'd love it, I'm sure, but he has no time. Repeat, no time. I have never in my life witnessed a more dedicated, hard-working man than Dennis Kucinich. The man literally lives on no sleep, and yet brings it every time. He is awe-inspiring in his work ethic. I can't possibly fathom a nanosecond in his schedule where he could take the time to log on to DU.

This man has sand, folks. I just got home from a rip to Seattle, to Detroit, to Maine. I was on three different planes today. Three. I'm dead on my feet, Dennis is machining his way across the country, and blowing the roof off every joint he visits.

Like I said, I am in awe.

Maybe he wouldn't be able to reply as quickly or often as you do, but it would certainly be an effective way for him to get his message out to the Democratic base.

At least ask his press secretary to suggest it to Kucinich. :D

What insights do you expect him to reveal here that are not on his website? Or is it beneficial because it simply saves people the trouble of actually going to his website and reading his stands on the issues, and his vision for America?

I would expect to see results, but unlike other primaries there's no scroll showing the results. I did see one blip about WA saying Kucinich had his strongest showing yet with the 3rd place finish. But since this evening, nothing more.

edit: They just talked about the results on headline news and all they announced the first and second place results only. What the heck is going on?

It's like they don't even want to say his name. This is yet another strongest showing for Kucinich for the second day in a row. I would imagine they're praying it stops now. I hope Kucinich beefs up his security!

Unlike ANY of the other candidates -and I include Al, here- DK has the moxie and the message to start stripping the Taking Class of their ill-got gains.

When tyrants tremble, sick with fear
And hear their death-knell ringing;
When friends rejoice, both far and near
How can I keep from singing?

GO Dennis!

58. Nope, there is no positive mention of Kucinich's name anywhere
its all about the dissapointment of the Clark and Edwards campaigns, even finsihing behind 'long-shot' candidate Dennis Kucinich and why that might be so. No validation of Dennis' positions, no explanation why he would be doing well, nothing.

35. Congrats to Dennis.
Yet another example of why my home state of Maine is such a dynamite place.

As an aside, allow me to share my love all the way from Tokyo, and the love I share is more than words:

Yesterday was the Democrats Abroad, Japan caucus.

I am a Dean supporter.

At the caucus, we Deanies caucused with the Kucitizens, we gave them ~10 votes, got Dennis into the third round as a viable group (almost got them a delegate!) and when the final round indicated that Dennis would not remain viable, we invited all the Kucitizens to join with us in the Dean group, in return for your support, we elected your caucus leader as our first alternate -- had it turned out as we had hoped (i.e. the added support of the Kucitizens getting Dean two delegates, rather than one, we would have given the second delegate slot to a Kucinich supporter).

I know it is not much, but it is something.

Cheers!

50. Misplaced defeatism
Dennis's campaign is not about HIM, it is about his VISION of hope and a better tomorrow for America and the world. It is about creating a grassroots swell that will overturn the national disorder that infects us, made up of the triumvirate of militarism, mass-consumerism and rapacious greed.

Is that something that you see as a worthwhile goal? If so, then join Dennis Kucinich in working to make its end a reality -- because none of the other candidates are willing to acknowledge this national disorder, stare it right in the face and take it on. They prefer to pretend it doesn't exist and instead wander about the periphery while the disease only grows stronger.

Progressives unite! DK and HOPE in 2004!

I'm glad he is not fading away because he has important things to say. By having DK in the race, we keep the other candidates focused on progressive ideals.

I hope that his strong showings will continue and that he will eventually be offered a place in the Democratic cabinet. We need a voice like DK's in the administration.
