Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 11:59 PM by AP
Everybody wants to get rid of W. Well, there are more Bushes waiting in the wings.

Personally, I'd love to see Chelsea take down Jeb in sort of a revenge match circa 2016. However, I don't see Jeb waiting that long to run.

I can see Edwards beating both W and Jeb. I don't see Kerry beating Jeb in 2008.

Just a thought.

3. Sure.
I think the country is totally SICK of the Bushes. Never again!

Chuck Hagel would be a more formidable candidate for the Repugs.

7. They didn't seem sick enough of GHWB to hold it against GWB.
People could forget.

I guarantee you Jeb will run for Pres.

19. The American people
just have very short attention spans. Probably hardly anyone even remembers when Poppy was president. If 2 Bushes in a row get defeated after a single term, maybe it will begin to sink in with the American people.

5. Would he even face Jeb?
I'd think that having not one, but TWO relatives associated as one term wonders would put some doubt in people's minds.

6. "Bush" is soon to be a four-letter word in this country
Jeb's gonna have to change his name if he wants a political future.

10. What makes Jeb better than Bush?
If Kerry can't beat Jeb in 2008, what makes you think he can beat Bush in 2004? I don't see the logic here. Bush is clearly better than Jeb, because his blunders can be spun as just a "normal guy" acting aloof. It's to Bush's credit.

11. If Shrub goes down, there won't be a Jeb in 08
Even the pubbies will have had enough of the Bush clan by that point. Besides, Jebbie has enough baggage to sink a battleship.
Lots of simmering scandals that could erupt in the heat of a presidential campaign.

The Bush name will never garner the support it had.

20. I don't think they'll try to
run Guliani. Even the pukes might have some reservations about trying to elect a man who tried to move his mistress into the mayors mansion that he was still sharing with his wife and children. After what the pukes did to Clinton, that baggage would be fatal to a puke nominee if the Dems have any spinal collumn at all.

14. Jeb's daughter & wife ...
...make him unelectable.

At a state level, having a wife & a daughter with criminal records (okay - Columba's was more of a citation) is survivable - but Presidental Politics is cutthroat ... We may see Senator Jeb one day - but never President.

Watch out for George P. in '16 - as part of the fastest growing segment of the population - they might drag him out to run.

16. Jeb can't win if dubya loses
Rethugs aren't even that stupid to put in another 1 termer like the 2 before him. Also Americans will tire of bushes.

Gulliani is a strong choice for them, and JK better impress w/ his 1st 4 years.

17. I think it all depends
on how he performs as President. Jeb is hardly some charismatic prince who the people are longing to have as their president. If Kerry gets elected and performs reasonably well, there is no reason why he shouldn't be a 2 termer.

18. Don't we have enough to worry about NOW?
But, yeah, of course he can. I forsee a presidency that really engages the people and a President who won't be shy about reminding us of the bullet we have so recently dodged. Kerry has pledged to have a press conference every month or so and all the charges of being aloof and reserved aside, he AIN'T shy. Jeb wouldn't have a chance.

Woof

21. What the hell's so great about Jeb?
When did Jeb Bush become the political equivalent of Muhammed Ali? He would be very beatable. The only advantage he has is that he is arguably the best speaker in the family (hardly a difficult rank to achieve in that bunch). He lacks even the limited charm of his older brother. And if all else fails, bring up his history with drug traffickers.

Jeb could, can, and would be beaten.

22. Very interesting question, Jeb is the likely nominee
The critical nature of Florida makes him the favorite.

The intriguing apect would be a potential rift between the Bush brothers. If GW loses this year, it is certain to be extremely close. He might demand another run in 2008, which could force the Republican brass to choose between the two.
