Kerry Wins in Maine

Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.) completed a cross-country weekend sweep of the Democratic presidential contests last night by adding a victory in the Maine caucuses to his Saturday wins in Washington and Michigan.
The one-sided triumphs stretched his delegate lead and left rivals Howard Dean, retired Army Gen. Wesley K. Clark and Sen. John Edwards (N.C.) grasping for handholds in the effort to deny Kerry the nomination.
With 40 percent of the caucuses reporting, Kerry had 46 percent, compared with 26 percent for Dean, 13 percent for Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (Ohio), 9 percent for Edwards, 4 percent for Clark and 1 percent uncommitted.
