1. Gore.
I am curious how people who voted for Nader feel about that now?

29. I would feel much worse about it
if I lived in a state where the vote was close. I would feel very bad if I lived in Florida. In my state, a vote for Gore wouldn't have done him a particle of good, so I'm OK with my concience.

22. I still can feel the pain I felt
Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 10:45 PM by texasmom
when I was 17 and two months away from 18 in 1980. It was agony. I passed out literature for Jimmy Carter that day, but it just wasn't the same.

I'm so happy that you, Mass_Liberal and cqhayes, are so interested and involved in politics at your age.

You can make a difference at your age--getting people to register to vote and talking about the candidate you support. Maybe your enthusiasm will spread to others.

6. Nader.
But only because my state was overwhelmingly for Gore. Had it been close, I definitely would have gone for Gore.

It bothers me that there hasn't been a viable left wing in American politics for a long time, that the center has moved so far to the right. I have to admit, though, that I have discovered there are still a good number of Democrats who are true (thanks, CSPAN!). I am hoping that our country's current brush with disaster will lead to a resurgence of liberalism in this country.

8. Gore.
My state is very red, though, so I considered voting third party. I never have voted for a third party candidate and I've thought about doing it this year. I wouldn't even consider it if I lived in a state where the election was going to be close, but this is shrub country and there's just no changing it. I'm sure I'll still wind up voting for the Democrat.

Cuz I'm Green, and I knew I could get away voting for Nader in California. I certainly won't be voting Green party in the upcoming Presidential election.

Thought about Nader, don't remember why I decided not to vote for him. Maybe it was the Democrats are the same as the Republicans thing, probably pissed me off. If he's that dense, he doesn't need to be running the country.

Well, I consider it a vote for Gore, though I vote-swapped with a guy in Minnesota who wanted to vote for Nader but didn't want Minnesota to go for Bush. Happily, Minnesota did go for Gore.

17. Gore.
Having lived through the first Bush presidency, my main priority was to avoid a second. Even though Gore isn't really a good match for me on the issues.

I LIKE GREENS. I DON'T BLAME THEM FOR VOTING FOR NADER; I CONSIDERED IT MYSELF. IF BUSH WINS AGAIN IN '04, I MAY JUST BECOME A GREEN.

Meanwhile, I'm giving my all for an inside reformation. Should that fail, I'll vote for the dem in November, but may head for greener pastures after that. Pun intended.

21. I voted for Gore in both the Primary and General elections

I'm so happy about what my Grandson told me; he said that his first vote was for Nader, but this election, he is going to vote for the democratic candidate. He is leaning toward Howard Dean, but says he will vote for whoever the democratic nominee is.

Yipee :bounce: :bounce:

I live in a state that went overwhelmingly for Bush, so my vote wouldn't have done anything for Gore anyway.

I was really pissed off at both Gore and the Democratic party, and wanted to send a message that they can't just take my vote for granted.

I will be voting for the Democratic nominee no matter what this time, however my state votes. I think it's most important to send a message of unity against Bush.

If the Democratic party blows it and loses to Bush this time, I may move on to "Greener" pastures. If you're going to be a member of a party that can't win elections, it might as well be a party that actually stands for something.

34. My 1st Presidential Election...
I turned 18 in Dec 1996, so I couldn't vote in '96. I was so excited to vote in 2000 and I voted Gore. I was sooooooooo sure he was going to win and as we ALL know, he did. I can NOT tell you how much I screamed at my TV when the Supreme Court elected shrubya. I was 8 months pregnant and PISSED as hell. However, my daughter arrived during the Clinton administration, Jan. 19, 2001. The day after she was born, I was nausious from the pain of labor and having to watch the shrub take office.
