Bush Declares Voting a "Privilege"
It's a right, not that he is capable of making that distinction.

* and Mrs. Bush Vote in Texas on Election Day

Crawford Fire Station
Crawford, Texas

7:10 A.M. CST

{Bush}: Laura and I know it's a privilege to be able to cast our vote, and I encourage all Americans to vote today.
....

No, this is not nitpicking. I hear people talk of exercising their Fifth Amendment "privileges" all the time. It's a Fifth Amendment right. Think about it.

2. That's a distinction that the KKK and "white citizens' councils" used to insist on
throughout the south, back when Bushler was a Lil' Nazi and not the big grown up Nazi he is today.

Voting was said to be "a privilege-not a right!", a privilege conferred by white skin, literacy tests, and the countenance of local law enforcement.

4. Voting is a Privilege
There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that confers a right to vote. That being said, when standards are established for voting, no state may discriminate in the exercise of that privilege on the basis of race, religion, etc.

Many people misunderstand that concept. For example, states may prevent convicted felons from voting. Many states restore voting rights once a convict has served his or her sentence but some states permanently deprive a felon of the privilege of voting.

So let's be careful. I agree that to the extent that state law provides for the election of state and local officials and representatives and electors to the electoral college for President, every voter has the same right as any other voter, meaning this must be done on a non-discriminatory basis.

7. Thanks, I guess.
I just thought it was the "right to vote." Looks as if I'm wrong.
