Contemptible arrogance
This, finally, is what continued Republican rule means: sneakily shutting down an independent office that keeps track of waste, fraud and abuse in Iraq. You really can't make this stuff up. According to the Times report, House Republican committee staffers quietly and at the last minute inserted into a mammoth military appropriations bill a provision that would defund the Office of Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction.


Howard Dean? Russ Feingold? Paul Krugman? Atrios?

How about Rod Dreher, contributor to The National Review.
