Story of a failed GOP GOTV effort
My brother's friend, I'll call her Judy, just got back from an elderly aunt's funeral in Arkansas. Judy said that some Republican lackey showed up at a private family post-funeral gathering and tried to hand out literature for GOP candidates.

From what I understand, Judy's family (about 25 people) gathered at the home of the aunt after the funeral. They had a buffet spread and the family was milling around talking. At some point (and it sounds like this GOP lackey got inspired by the "Wedding Crashers"}, this guy shows up. It was a small enough group, not to mention they all knew each other, that it didn't take long for someone to ask him who he was. He fessed up that he was there to talk about the upcoming election and then tried to hand out literature for a couple of GOP candidates. The enitre family was pissed. The guy was asked to leave immdediately.

Judy is a reformed Republican (now a registered Dem) from a very Republican family. She said after the guy was booted she started talking politics. She came out swinging, comparing the GOP idiot they booted to the fundamentalists who intruded on Michael and Terri Schiavo. To her suprise her relatives were in agreement and, because of the GOP's GOTV efforts, every one of them said they would not vote for Republicans this time around.

1. Let's hope they demonstrate such sensitivity . . .
and good sense throughout their GOTV effort next week.

3. Mythical GOP GOTV
I would like to see DUer's pushing reporters (such as they are) at Cable, Network, and Print news outlets to get out there and witness/investigate the mythical GOTV effort the beltway establishment is so enamored with (it explains election thefts so nicely).

Would like to ID specific people to pressure -- a couple at each network, nytimes, wapo, latimes. . .

Thoughts?

5. Your local paper would love the hear about the visit.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Get the most pissed off person to call and tell the paper, or local tv station about it.

7. She lives here in Kansas
but I'll pass the word onto her to get a hold of relatives in Arkansas where it happened. But, believe me, she's telling people about it locally and the members of her family are talking about it too.
