Would this "October Surprise" scenario...
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 01:20 PM by rateyes
surprise anyone? The day before the election, afraid of a Democratic victory, the Dept. of Homeland Security pegs the Terrorism Threat Leven to RED (no pun intended), declares an "imminent attack," puts the election on hold for "our safety" and declares martial law?

Would you put it past them? Or do I simply need to put on my tinfoil hat?

1. Surprise me?
It would shock the shit out of me? Such a scenario is almost impossible to pull off without their actually staging a large terrorist attack. Not gonna happen. Elections will take place on November 7, and the way it looks now, we're almost assured of taking the House.

4. Then they can worry about this threat

They will call us disloyal? Gimme a break. We stopped taking their threat alerts seriously years ago.

If they do anything like that, I will want solid proof the action was necessary. "The public can't see; it's classified; trust us," won't cut it.

5. Someone asked the same question two years ago
In fact, the person who posted was even more detailed, opining that the terror alerts would be specifically directed at California.

It didn't happen then, and I expect it won't happen now.

6. Hardly anything they could do would suprise me,
short of telling the truth about ANYTHING. But if they did that, we'd probably never know.
