Kucinich Thanks Washington Voters

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 8, 2004

I offer my thanks to the people of Washington for their vote of confidence in my campaign. It is clear from the results of this caucus that this campaign has a strong base of support on the west coast, and that strength is showing itself. We expect to do very well in the Oregon and California contests, as well. The results in Washington are a positive sign of the support that is waiting to show itself as this primary season continues.

The message of this campaign will also continue:

Bring the United Nations into Iraq, and bring American troops out. For a detailed description of my plan to do this, go here:

http://www.kucinich.us/bringourtroopshome.php.

End the current for-profit health care system in America and enact not-for profit single payer universal health care. For a detailed description of my plan, go here:

http://www.kucinich.us/issues/universalhealth.php.

Cancel NAFTA and the WTO, trade agreements that have cost America 3,000,000 jobs since July of 2000, and return to bilateral trade based upon the precepts of workers rights, human rights and environmental protection. For more information on my plan, go here:

http://www.kucinich.us/pressreleases/pr_111403a.php.

The strength of this campaign, and of my message, will continue to grow as more people learn about my campaign. I will be campaigning in Maine on Sunday, and from there this campaign will continue on to Boston.

1. Dennis ROCKS! If we can't have him in '04...
Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 01:49 AM by PROUD DemocRAT
I hope he stays visible and gives us a shot at '08! I believe he can do it - the people love his message, more people just need to hear it.

Tell him that for me, Will! If not '04 - '08! '08!

edited to add: or in 2012! Whichever opportunity arises first!

2. Is he still standing by the prediction of winning the Dem nomination ?
through a brokered convention ?

"Dennis Kucinich has 49 states to go, expects to be in each one, expects this to be a brokered convention, and expects to be the candidate," campaign spokesman David Swanson said. '

As part of the campaign, do you endorse the above statement that he SHOULD stay in the race, and that he WILL be the nominee ?

Any possibility that he will pick Kerry as his running mate ?

18. Every candiate is saying that they WILL be the nominee
why is it so controversial when Dennis says it? The difference between him saying it and any other 5-percenter is that DK has a strategy - albeit a longshot. We're seeing it become more and more viable if he keeps pulling numbers like this. Of course it also depends on somebody - anybody = evening up this race a bit.

4. ...and a message from the campaign manager
Message About the Washington Caucus Results
from Dot Maver, Campaign Manager

The people of Washington have spoken, and they have delivered a great day to the Dennis Kucinich for President campaign. Congressman Kucinich has placed third in the Washington caucuses, ahead of John Edwards, Wesley Clark and Al Sharpton. It is clear from the results that this campaign has a strong base of support on the west coast, and that strength is showing itself. We expect to do very well in the Oregon and California contests, as well. The results in Washington are a positive sign of the support that is waiting to show itself as this primary season continues.

Between the results out of Washington, and the spectacular results of the 20/20/20 fundraiser, it is clear that the American people support the Dennis Kucinich campaign. They support Dennis Kucinich because he will get our soldiers out of Iraq. They support Dennis Kucinich because he will end the for-profit health care system in America and create a not-for-profit single payer universal health care plan. They support Dennis Kucinich because he will cancel NAFTA and the WTO, and rebuild our manufacturing base in America.

Our next contest is in Maine. Dennis Kucinich is in this race to the end. We will see you in Boston.

19. Kucinich wins 18% of vote in Thurston County
The Daily Olympian mentioned his name multiple times and gave photo coverage to one of his supporters. Thurston County is a curious mix of people. Thurston County houses state government offices, The Evergreen State College, and a large military populations because of the proximity of Fort Lewis, the home of the Stryker Brigade and one of the largest army bases in US. Dennis spoke here last Wednesday to an enthusiastic crowd. When Kucinich has visibilty and name recognition his message captivates people's hearts and minds.

IMHO he is marginalized because he has such a powerful message. When he is heard, people know he is speaking for them; his history shows he is a man of honor and integrity. The challenge of the Kucinich campaign is to create high profile visibility.

5. Go Dennis! Get the message out!
I have a nagging worry. If the Repubs think Bu$h can't win, will they make sure a Repub-lite wins (and I don't mean Dennis)?
Many people I have talked to while knocking on doors for Dennis in NM have said they think he is the best, but say he can't win so they will vote ..... fill in the blank.
No press coverage either.
I love the pic in the ABQ Journal: The hall at UNM where he spoke was overflowing, there were 3 empty chairs marked: reserved for the press.

Do you, by any chance, have a digitalized version of it? (Keeping fingers crossed)

Kanary, cheering for Dennis!

Albuquerque Journal site, maybe you can find it there.
I don't have a scanner. Or try the Dennis site and see if you can get connected with the NM campaign.
Try Woodward Hall or University of New Mexico and Densis for search.

10. That says it all!
there were 3 empty chairs marked: reserved for the press.

That says it all. The media are all working from the same playbook which says, "the best way to sink Kucinich is to pretend he does not exist."

Each of us must redouble our efforts to get his real messages out anyway, making sure they are heard by the voters and by the other candidates. There are many ways to help regardless of which state you live in. Check the website for specific projects and best timing.

The clearly unambiguous alternative to Bush:
Dennis Kucinich

17. Tell those people
that Democrats in late primary states need the contest to stay heated so we can draw more people out to the primaries. And tell them that the longer the Democrats go without a clear winner, the shorter the time the Republicans have to work at bringing down the nominee. Since they are in a mood to vote pragmatically, maybe that will give them internal permission to vote as they really want to. :)

11. Well, If you'd stayed HERE you could have been a part of it

But noooooooooooo! You had to fall in love with a pretty young lady, and move to Arizona! Like THEY'RE ever gonna vote for Kucinich.

btw, Geni was wearing the "Impeach Bush" pin that you'd given me, and it was VERY popular. Everybody wanted it. Will Durst couldn't take his eyes off it. I'm sure it had nothing to do with were she had it pinned.

16. hehehe
We had a REAL primary in Arizona, and our votes counted and everything! DK got 5% here in Flagstaff, more than any city in AZ. I'd like to take the credit, of course, but Desertrose worked harder than anyone to drum up support for DK in northern AZ. We just rode in her shadow.

That's too cool about the button. Maybe I should have worn mine that has a picture of Poppy and Chimp, and it says "Dumb and Dumber". :D

12. 99% of the precincts are counted, but less than 90% of the delegates
have been awarded.

What's up with that, Will?

It looks like Dean is on Life support and might not even make it to California where my yet to be passed out Dean flyers would have been printed in vain. If Dean drops I will switch to a Dennis picture.

I’m going through what William went through with his endorsement of Kerry and his eventual migration to Dennis. In a rational world Dennis would be our president but as you know we are stuck in Twilight zone episode #*$ hell I lost count. I have to run I will write more about this later.
